Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eureka 4870PZ Boss SmartVac Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Customer Review: Rugged vacuum
Summary: 4 Stars

I originally bought a Hoover vacuum to replace my aging Eureka vacuum but did not like the Hoover as much as my old Eureka. I returned the Hoover and bought this Eureka bagged vacuum and it works great. I like the fact that it has a long cord and the hose is longer and placed/designed much better than the Hoover. Overall easier to use. An all around good, durable workhorse of a vacuum

Customer Review: Step Switch Chronic Problem
Summary: 1 Stars

Don't buy it!!! The step switch fell off all the time, since purchase. In the shop 3 weeks - still awaiting parts! The repair shop told us they have seen quite a few of these. After reading many blogs on this problem, I cannot believe that Consumer Reports rated it as a "best buy".

Customer Review: THIS IS AN AWSOME VACUUM
Summary: 5 Stars

I HAVE OWNED IT FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND USE IT CONSTANTLY AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT.DOES A GREAT JOB CLEANING ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS A HEAVY VAC...

Customer Review: Vacuum
Summary: 4 Stars

The Eureka SMartVac provides excellent suction. It is a little heavy, but does a very good job.

Customer Review: Wonderful vacuum for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

I have only been using this vacuum for a couple of weeks, but I'm truly impressed.
PROS:
* cleans thoroughly - to the point of actually raising the nap on the carpet
* self propelled. It practically took off on it's own. A really nice feature given the heft of the machine
* The price. Pretty well built and only around $150. If it works well like this for a number of years, I will be thrilled. Usually a $150 machine is a yearly "throw away"... we will see down the road with this one

CONS:
* It's a bagged (not bagless) machine. I haven't used a vacuum bag in about 6 years (we also have a Dyson). I hate bags. They are dirty, an unnecessary expense and lets face it you never have an extra one in the house when you need it.
* I can't figure out how to use the hose attachments. I doubt the feature is broken but I still haven't been able to figure out how to use it. This shouldn't be rocket science - it's a vacuum
* Belts. I'm a little skeptical about the extra plastic belts that were included with the machine. I haven't had to use them (yet) but I'm worried about the day I need to.

My sister in law recommended this machine & raved about it after she bought one more than a year ago for herself. If I change my opinion I will update my review!
