I compared this Eureka cordless vac to a relative's Electrolux cordless vac costing twice as much, and it looks like this is a much better value. The Electrolux is more elegant looking and is easier to use,but it doesn't perform any better. In addition, the Electrolux seems to have a built in battery that cannot be easily changed.If it goes bad you are out of luck. This Eureka has a battery that can be changed, actually much easier than changing the battery on a cordless drill. The wall mount charger has a place to charge a second battery while another battery is still in the vac, attached to the wall mount. With a separate charging lamp for each battery you can charge both batteries at the same time, one in the vacume and one in the wall mount.I have thrown away countless Dustbuster type cordless vacs with bad,soldered in internal batteries that died from overcharging after less than a year. The battery system Eureka has for these vacs is head and shoulders above anything else out there. It would be great if Eureka came out with additional products using this same exact battery,much like the Ryobe 1+ system.Customer Review: Best Cordless on the market!

We recently moved and the vaccum was forgotten. We have two large indoor dogs and two indoor cats. My sister sent me a $40. gift certificate from amazon for Christmas. I thought could I find something to do the job and get us by until our large vaccum came? This little vaccum is amazing. It's so light and being cordless it's so convenient it makes it a breeze to vaccum more frequently. Young children could use it without damaging furniture. It is even small enough to get in and around smaller areas without moving furniture. The fact the handle detaches so is works as a hand vac! It's amazing. Thanks to those who gave rave reviews and caused me to buy one. It would be great for a dorm room. I don't think I'll use my other vaccum again!Customer Review: Best cordless vacuum!

I bought this cordless vacuum (Eureka 96 D, newer version)a couple months ago and I love it! the suction is good and it's very light weight(looks good too!). I have a 4yr old at home and there is always crumbs of everything on my tile floors and this little vacuum does a great job picking it all up. It also works good on carpets (not as great as your original powered vacuum) but its great for quick pickups and it definetly replaces a broom!... by the way I gave it 4 stars because, even though it's a good vacuum, It wont go underneath furniture too low to the floor, like the swivel sweeper, (but the swivel I will never buy again because I had to replace it twice, so dont buy it.)Customer Review: Best in Any Price Range

I previously owned another Eureka cordless vacuum, but had a problem with the battery after about a year of great use. I decided to splurge and bought a $100 Electrolux Pronto cordless vac. It did well on hardwood floor, but could not pick up in the grout lines of tile, and I couldn't even get it to roll on any type of carpet. I returned it and bought the Eureka 96D for $30 instead!
It has even better pick-up then my previous one. The very best feature, for me, is that it can go from hardwood to tile to carpet so easliy. It picks up fairly large pieces in the kitchen, including wheaties. I use it for touch-ups on carpet, in between deep cleaning.
I have recommended these Eureka cordless vacs to friends and family and will continue to do so.
