Customer Review: A decent vacuum for the money

I think this vacuum is just okay. It does an acceptable job of cleaning but I feel it could definitely be better.
My husband got this about over a year ago and I wanted to wait to review it until I had a bit of experience with it.
We have mostly hardwood floors and the suction seems to be sufficient for picking up most things. However, I do notice it's not especially good at really getting the fine dust that settles on the floor as a Dyson would. And it tends to have suction in only one small area of the bottom (bottom right when vacuuming) so I find myself having to aim this part over the area I'm vacuuming.
The size & weight make it a bit unwieldy to maneuver around corners and in tight spaces. On the few areas we do have carpeting, it does seem to be a bit better. Although I'd say it's not really a fair comparison as we don't wear shoes in the house and our carpets stay relatively clean.
One definite downside for me is that it requires vacuum bags.
Overall, for just over $100, this is a decent vacuum but not particularly noteworthy. I won't be buying another.

This is a very good vacuum cleaner and the price is a steal. No sales tax and free shipping makes it better than you could do in a bricks and mortar store. Moreover, I had a remarkable shipping experience - normally, free shipping normally means it takes the slow boat to get to you, but in this case the vacuum cleaner appeared on my doorstep less than 24 hours after I bought it online. Amazing, Amazon! The only downside to this product that I can see is that it is somewhat heavier than my old vacuum and so I would suggest that people who want a lighter vacuum cleaner shop around a bit and compare the weights of the vacuum cleaners in the product description before buying.Customer Review: A great deal on a great product

This is the second 4870 boss smart vac I have purchased I have 2 cats and 1 dog this thing is amazing on pet hair the first one is still operable but after daily usage for about 5 years it is not as good as it once was.The new one has small little improvements that I really like I only wish they could make it lighter.

We've owned this vacuum for 5 years, and we use it to clean the entire house(w/ carpet), pet (w/ bulky waste) and garage (w/ sand and stone) everyday. We just can't find anything better than this, with this price.
Here are the reasons why we like it.
- The running cost is low! Even we use our vac everyday, we replace the filter bag (cost about $5 for 3) every 2 months. The annual cost is very low. So far, we never replace the HEPA filter, the inner filter and the belt. They are just like new after using 5 years!
- It's powerful! We've tried a Dyson Ball and we think they have about the same cleaning power. We've tried to clean up our carpet area with this vac (with the bag half way full), and clean it with the Dyson afterward. The can of Dyson is pretty much empty.
- It's quiet! Comparing to Dyson and Dirt Devil, this is much more quiet and our pet does not complaint.
We just can't find anything better than this vac.

We just purchased this vacuum so we can't speak to how long it will last, but I can tell you that is is an amazing vacuum. After 3 years fighting with our dirt devil we read many reviews and consumer reports and decided on this vacuum. We have 2 dogs (one long haired, one with really short hair) and a cat. We really thought our carpet was in terrible shape, but after only one time around it literally looks like new. The vacuum was easy to assemble and has easy to manuever parts. It also comes with an extra bag and belt. We cannot believe how nice our carpet looks. If we had known we could get a vacuum for this price that was this great we would have bought it years ago.
