Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eureka Enviro Hard-Surface Floor Steamer,313A

Customer Review: A fantastic cleaning tool
Summary: 5 Stars

Receive this as a gift. My parents had one and they have a house with tile through-out their main floor and love it. I have a large tiled kitchen/pantry/laundry area and had tried two other methods to keep this area clean: various types of mops and a carpet steamer/cleaner with brushes that can be used on tile floors. This Steamer Mop is a great improvement over both those other methods for me so far. Here's why I think that:

Traditional Mop- It's a pain (heavy) to get a big bucket of soapy water prepared and lug it around the area. Dried on sticky stuff from kids sometimes takes a lot of very aggressive scrubbing to clean up. This method requires the most energy due to the scrubbing and I have to change the water at least once during the process. Floor is also still very wet when I'm done.

Hoover Carpet steamer/Cleaner- Heard from friend this works great on tile. It does have some advantages over mopping. Cleaner deposits water/cleaner solution, brushes do the scrubbing and it then sucks up the dirty water. Problem for me is that I still need to dump and re-fill water container at least once during the process and although it sucks up a lot of water, floor is still definitely wet when I 'm done and I need to towel it down, or wait 30 mins to walk on it.

Eureka Enviro Steamer- I was surprised by how effectively it removed the dirt. It really, really works! When floor is especially dirty I have to refill it before job is done, but for regular maintenance, a single filling is enough for entire area. It's not heavy to push around, and pushes quite smoothly. The floor dries FAST! No need to go around with towels afterward or having to wait 30mins to use the room again. I find this is definitely the quickest way to get the job done and requires least amount of effort on my part. Only complaint I have is that from what I can see pads have gone from $19.99 for two to $19.99 for just one. I think that's a complete rip-off. Cleaner comes with two, which is all I need to get the job done. I read another post from someone who said she wraps regular towels around the head instead. I think I'll try this in the future if I ever have to use more than two.

If you have a tile floor and are not happy with your current method, this is definitely worth a try!

Customer Review: A few suprises..
Summary: 4 Stars

I anxiously awaited receiving the Eureka Steam Mop and today it arrived. I read nearly every review of steamers and steam mops on the web before settling on this one. It had so many great reviews for tile floors it won me over. I have 900 sq. ft. of tile, 500 sq. ft. is lightly textured with 1/2" grout and porcelain inlays, 300 sq. ft. is heavily textured over the entire surface, and 100 sq. ft. has been in for nearly 50 years. The grout is in various states of its original bone color to nearly black. I've been loyal to my Libman Wonder Mop and a bucket of hot water and vinegar to keep it clean but it is a tedious chore to do the whole lot. I found myself mopping the big areas once a week and letting the rest slip for weeks.

Once I got the Eureka Steam Mop assembled, pad on and filled up I let it sit the requisite 5 minutes then slipped on a pair of white socks to see if it really would work. I had read about the "breaking in" period where it will leave excess water so I had a towel at the ready. At first I didn't notice a significant difference in the tiles, but then again I had mopped just a few days ago. I did notice the grout lighten ever so slightly in some areas in the kitchen but nothing to get excited about. One thing that was very noticeable and horribly disconcerting was the odor that arose the more I steamed the grout. I can only assume as the grime is lifted out the odors are released and I can assure you it does not leave the house "fresh" smelling. Hopefully once the grout is clean this odor will be gone!! Once the floors dried they did have a shine to them I had not seen in quite some time. The white socks are still pretty much white.

All in all I am pretty pleased with the Eureka Steam Mop. I filled the mop twice covering 700 sq. ft., running through both pads. I will note the pads were only slightly soiled but I changed them because they were saturated with water. I think I will take the advice I read for additional pads and get the Clorox Large Surface Mop Microfiber refill pads, I understand they fit quite nicely and are reasonably priced. I look forward to seeing how the mop holds up and if it really will get all my grout back to its original bone color.

Customer Review: A good alternative to a traditional mop
Summary: 4 Stars

I borrowed this product from a friend before I purchased it. It is simple and easy to use. I like that the water (therefore the weight) is at the bottom of the mop. I like that I can reuse the cleaning cloths. The time that it takes the floor to dry is significantly reduced with the steam clean and I like that I can use it on our laminate flooring as well as the tile. I wish the cord were longer. I have to get our heavy duty extension cord to reach all of our floor space. (Our entire first floor is ceramic tile). It takes a little while to get the cloth working when you first start. I've tried wetting it first, but I'm not sure that's a great solution. Overall, I like how the floors look and feel and for me it is "neater" to use than a traditional mop. I'm happy with my purchase.

Customer Review: A great Floor cleaner
Summary: 5 Stars

We purchaced the Eureka 313A Enviro Steamer several weeks ago. It has worked great without any problems. It gets those sticky things off the floor without having to scrub. It does not always get all the scuff marks up that have been there for a while. I highly recommned this product.

Customer Review: A great appliance
Summary: 5 Stars

I've thought about getting a steam mop for awhile but whenever I read up on them, there were more complaints than raves. Read about this one on several sites and it seemed univerally loved. I can see why: it does a great job and does it quickly. The floors get really clean; you can see it on the pad. This is prob. the best feature: large, heavy duty, thick, waffle weave pads. It came with two and I ordered an extra. I have about 1000 sq. feet of wood floors and 3 tiled baths/laundry room. With three kids and three pets, my floors get really dirty. A great product.
