I bought this steamer as I have linoleum in my kitchen, and tile in my art studio and bathroom. It can't be used on my old hardwood floors as they need refinishing and I fear that the steam will make the wood swell, even though I do damp mop them.
The steamer does all that is claims to. You do have to vacuum/sweep first, which I do anyway, and spot clean some stains that might not come up. But again, you have to do that no matter how you clean your floor (the best machine would have a combo vacuum and steamer in it!) I like that I don't have to use soap/chemicals, and the steam disinfects. And, though the floor is damp, it is less damp than a conventional mop, meaning it dries much faster.
The surprise/bonus for me was when I used it on my studio floor,(which had stains on it from paint and other art supplies), the steam heated the tile up so that it softened the hardened gunk, making it very easy for me to peel it or scrape it off the floor. These floors had been flooded with mud etc too, and when I was done they looked wonderful.
There are many other reviews here about this...so I will not be redundant. But this does as much or more than I expected, and I am glad that I made the investment.

When I started to research steamers I found most product reviews to be all over the place. I was looking for something without a big price tag to safely clean my finished hardwood and ceramic tile floors. The reviews for the Eureka Enviro Steamer were all positive so I thought I'd give it a try. It is easy to use, cleans well and my floors are dry and ready to walk on within minutes. I have a two level home with the first level being hard wood floor in the main dining area and living room and white marble tile in the kitchen and second dining area. I hate that after the first use of a mop it starts to smell. I hated using bleach to clean the mop and I also felt as if my floors were not too clean after mopping. So I went on a quest to find something better. I came to Amazon and saw all of the positive reviews minus a few bad ones for the Eureka Enviro Steam mop and I decided to purchase it. I was concerned about using this steamer on the wood floors but decided to take a chance. Anyhow, as soon as the product arrived I assembled it without a problem. I filled it with water and tested it out in my master bath on the marble tile floor....it worked wonders!!! It left my floor spotless and most importantly NO STINKY SMELL that the mops usually leave behind!! I was planning to clean the floors on the first level the next day but when I saw how easy this was I went to clean my kitchen and dining area. The kitchen floor is white so you can see how much this product has changed the way I clean. It did a beautiful job....Although it didn't leave a shine in the kitchen area, but I used this floor polish solution made by Weimen, it is Eco friendly and safe to use around pets and children. Next, I went over a small area of the wood floor to see how the wood reacted and it just cleaned nicely...the steamer did not leave to much water and the floor dried in seconds, but just like the kitchen it removed the sheen. However, I wasn't too concerned about that as long as it got the dirt up. So after I finished I used the same floor polish solution with a floor buffing mop and my floors look STUNNING....I didn't even want the kids to walk on them. I will order a few more cloths from Eureka's website and stock up on a few bottles of the floor polish solution.....other than that I'm satisfied!!

I read all the reviews and had high expectations. It might work great on stone, tiles and wood, but it is worthless on linoleum. This unit does the same thing as a hot sponge. That's basically all the steamer does. It keeps the rag hot and wet. It doesn't remove ground in dirt or scuff marks from linoleum. I regret my purchase.
