Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eureka Enviro Hard-Surface Floor Steamer,313ACustomer Review: Adequate But Summary: 3 Stars
I have owned my Eureka 313a floor steamer for about 4 months. I use it once a week to clean vinyl floors. It cleans adequately, especially on sticky residue. I am disappointed though in the way the cleaning pads attach to the bottom of the mop. They are difficult to attach. It takes two hands and then the mop falls over. The pads also shrunk even though I washed them in cold water and line dried them. The pads also retain a dirty look after washing. I would not recommend this mop and plan on passing this one on to my son.
Customer Review: Adequate but not life changing... Summary: 2 Stars
I have gone through three steamers: The Euro Pro, the Shark Ultra Steam Blaster and now, the Eureka Enviro Steamer. If you are thinking about buying a steam mop, you might need to adjust your expectations.
What they won't do:
1. Clean grout. You're still going to have to get down on your hands and knees and scrub to get your grout clean. Sorry. The truth hurts.
2. Sanitize. Yes, the pad gets somewhat hot but in order to kill germs, you'd have to leave the thing in one place for several minutes. It would take a day to sanitize a small bathroom.
What a steam mop will do:
Everyday cleaning such as dog paw prints, mud, etc.
The Shark Ultra was pretty good but it was a behemoth. Such a pain to drag around. And the handle was lame. It broke and rather than buy a new one, I sold the unit at my garage sale.
So I replaced it with the Euro Pro Shark. In a way, I prefer the Euro Pro. Small, easy to maneuver. It takes no time at all to heat up. When you plug it in and start mopping, it repeatedly ejects an impressive plume of steam each time you push it forward. This makes you think that you're doing some real cleaning. But alas, the unit didn't last long. I had it only eight months before it stopped working.
So, I bought the Eureka Enviro Steamer based on the reviews. It is more substantial than the Euro Pro and takes longer to heat up. The cleaning pads that come with it are absolutely worthless. They aren't absorbent and just spread water all over the floor. I had some of the microfiber pads left over from the Shark Ultra so with the help of my trusty razor blade, the seams were taken out and the cloth could be stretched wide enough to clip into the Eureka. This was an enormous improvement. No more standing pools of water. The steam that the unit emits is modest. Sometimes it's not clear that steam is being emitted at all but a light on top of the unit tells you when it is out of water. It does an adequate job of removing paw prints from my ceramic tile but it's not going to replace harsh cleaners and elbow grease for deep cleaning.
Would I but the Eureka again? Probably not.
Customer Review: After lots of comparing...... Summary: 5 Stars
Well, all I can say is WOW! This steam cleaner is easy to use, light weight, loads of steam, and cleans perfectly. I checked out so many different brands and their ratings, read as many reviews as I could find and decided on the Eureka Enviro. I am so glad I did. And I can tell you how horrified I was in seeing how dirty my floors really were :-0 ....but not anymore!!!
Customer Review: After purchasing for my wife Summary: 5 Stars
several other brands she claims this is top notch!
The Eureka 313A was purchased after reading the long review
here on Amazon. This one costs less than the others we
have owned, you don't have to pump for steam and it
doesn't get hung up on the grout. The surface area at
the base for cleaining is also larger than ones we have had in the past.
The fact that the temp gets so high you don't have to
keep going over a spot, the resevior holds more water than
any we have had so no need to refill if you have a lot of tile
and wood. Although she uses an extension cord, this cord
exceeds the length of the others we have owned by quite a
bit.
After reading about many people with problems with sitting
water. My wife states she had the problem only the very first
time she used it and there after it was great. There are
instructions in the manual on the first time you use it and
essentially priming it to avoid this and also to get it to heat
up faster.
She loves this mop after several months and at a fraction of the cost
of some of the others described that don't work as well.
The pads do shrink compared to new out of the box, but they still work
just fine.
Customer Review: After using Eureka Envirosteamer for about 6 months.... Summary: 4 Stars
When I first got the Envirosteamer I raved over it. I have the oldest, nastiest vinyl flooring in the kitchen which is white (WHITE!). Until I can have the whole thing done over the way I want, I'm sort of stuck with it. It's so old that anyone or anything (we have pets and kids) who walks through leaves a mark. Mopping was a pain and I'd have to do it sometimes 2x a day. I went through two Swiffer Wet Jets. But still the stains on the floor held tight.
Then I got the Envirosteamer and my nasty floors (although still ugly) are at least clean - and I don't have to clean the floors more than three times a week. And this is fairly heavy traffic.
Okay - after six months - my complaints. The 'thingys' that clip on the pad are not as secure as they were and I keep wondering which time I use them they will fall off. I have not tried to repair them.
Eureka only includes 2 pads - and replacements are nearly impossible to come by. I just read a review about using dishtowels - I tried some microfiber pads and they didn't work. But I will try the dishtowels. If that works it will solve a huge problem as my pads are so soiled I have to soak them in bleach in order for them not to release dirt back onto the floor - but they still are gray with dirt.
Eureka is heavy. I know there are lightweight steamers out there. This one is not one of them.
EurekaEnvirosteamer is large. It takes up much more space than some of the others I've seen at Target and Sears. However, according to some other consumers, those others do not clean as well, so I guess I'd rather have a clean floor.
Lastly, the handle is wiggly. It is not coming off, but will sort of twist around and flop while it is heating up, and I have to have it lean on the counter. I have not tried to fix this. It's not a big deal IF it doesn't eventually break on me.
All-in-all, I love this steam cleaner but am worried about some parts staying in one piece. Also wish it were lighter and pads were easier to come by. But with the dishtowel suggestion - I may change my mind about that problem.
The floor is clean and sanitized. Every time. If that is what you are looking for in a steam cleaner, this one is for you!
