I'm amazed at how much dirt and pet hair this little vacuum actually picks up. I love that it is easy to use, not to mention light as a feather. The only thing that makes it a drag is the "bagless" feature. This is a neat little vacuum. I like all of the same things that everyone else has mentioned (compact size/weight & very powerful). The only down side as far as I can see (Not even a big down side) is the issue with it's exhaust blower exiting in the front of the vacuum. To work around it, I find that if I'm vacuuming an area where I'm concerned that the exhaust air may cause dust & debris to blow away, if I tilt the handle closer to the floor, it changes the angle of the exhaust air just enough that it's workable.
Lot's of people have given negative remarks about the short cord, to that I say "big deal" a $2 extension cord fixes that.
My most difficult thing to get used to with this unit is simply the fact that the head is not as wide as my previous vacuum and takes more passes to cover the same area of floor. But I don't hold that against the unit, it's supposed to be a compact vacuum.
The only other thing that I would like to mention is that the PowerPaw (powered head attachment for the hose) is pretty slick. It works great for stairs and getting cat hair off of furniture.

Very simple set-up, great suction on both hard floors and low plush carpet. HEPA filter picks up so many minute particles that will leave you wondering how you ever lived without this vacuum. Great for small apartments- lightweight, easy to store and very user friendly. Great attatchments as well. Very pleased. I have 3 vacuum cleaners--large and heavy upright for carpet, cordless stick vac for picker-upper, and Eureka Optima for all-round cleaning. This has the best saction and versatility among all, and for the first time, I feel I can stop my pursuit of a good vac cleaner.
After trying so many cleaners, I now have realistic expectation. Even a good vac has some shorcomings, and you need to know what your priority is. In this case, cleaning the waste bin and filter is very messy and cumbersome. Because Eureka Optima has very good saction, the filter catches so much fine dust very quickly. I need to dust if off almost everytime I vacuum, and it is not fun. However, for me, can-vacuum-anywhere versatility and light weight make up for it.
I recommend Eureka Optima even if this dies on me within one year (which it does not yet). This is not a perfect cleaner, and there is not a perfect cleaner, but a great value for solid performance.
