Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eureka Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum. 437AZ

Customer Review: Optima vaccuum
Summary: 5 Stars

The Optima vaccuum is lightweight, easy to maneuver and has a HEPA filter. It has a narrow profile to fit easily underneath furniture and the canister is simple to empty. The attachments store easily on the unit and it is also good for bare floor vaccuuming. Plus, it's orange.

Customer Review: PLEASED
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a good little vacuum for small jobs. It is lightweight, easy to switch between vacuum and hose. It has great suction. If you have a lot of carpeting this is not for you - primarily because emptying the dust cup is small.

Customer Review: Perfect for Apartments!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've got a fully carpeted, 2 bedroom apartment with no pets and I vacuum probably twice a month. I previously owned the Eureka 431BXZ (green model) before purchasing the 437AZ and I absolutely loved it. I had to buy this new vacuum because a neighbor of mine borrowed my previous one and has yet to return it. Needless to say, I'm extremely content with the 437AZ.

I've had the vacuum for 3 months now and just recently emptied the dust cannister and cleaned the filter. It's true that there is an extremely large amount of dust that collects around the filter but I've found it farely easy to clean. I disconnect the filter from the dust cannister and place it in a large garbage bag while brushing off the excess dust. It takes around 5 minutes and I don't imagine myself cleaning the filter more than 3-4 times a year. Obviously, people who have pets and live with more than 2 people in a space larger than a 2 bedroom apartment might find this vacuum unsuitable to their needs.

What I love most is the suction power and the extended hose option. I use the hose to clean hard to reach corners on floors, tight closet spaces, and the small crevices in my couch and sofa. The vacuum itself is pretty light weight and easy to store anywhere. It sounds too good to be true but I don't really have any substantial complaints about this unit. I've had no problems with it and I would definitely recommend this item to my friends. As a matter a fact, I'm planning on sending one to both my mother and my sister for Christmas.

Customer Review: Pluses Outweigh Minuses
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this at Costco recently. Great cleaning ability - great price - however, it has trouble on fuzz from washed rugs or larger bits of things. Also the dirt it picks up sticks to the top of the canister right around the filter. So you end up cleaning the filter just to get the suction back to par. Also the top attachment piece keeps falling off and the hose sometimes slips down and turns the machine off. Cord is a little short. Even so, the quality of clean is really outstanding - even on kitchen floors it cleans beautifully.

Customer Review: Practical Purchase
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading many reviews on this vacuum (and many others), it seemed like the way to go. I have a $500 canister vac which only lasted about 8 years, then lost its suction, so I was really looking for something that really picked up the dirt. According to all the reviews, this little guy really "sucked." This compact vacuum really does the job - on hardwood floors too! Despite other reviews, I have not had a problem with the cord being too short - just plug it into a central location. The only drawback is that the filter (not the actual canister) gets full of crud after going thru the house one time (maybe 1500 sq ft), so it needs to be cleaned each time I use it. However, I would much rather have the crud in the vacuum than in my carpet where my kids play. I thought it may just happen the first few times I used it because my old vaccum just was not doing its job, but I have had this for a while now, and I am still needing to clean it out each time. To me, for the price, the suction power, and the lowering handle so my 8 & 10 year-olds can vacuum, the time it takes me to clean the filter out (5 minutes) it well worth every penny.
