Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eureka Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum. 437AZCustomer Review: Don't buy bagless! Summary: 3 Stars
First off, bagless vacuums are just a terrible idea. Unfortunately, most vacuums come that way now, which is the only reason I bought this. The problem with bagless is that most of the debris ends up accumulating around the filter, reducing the suction. The receptacle is only a quarter full before you need to empty the receptacle. And that's even worse as a required step! Not only will dust fly out all over once it's dumped out, but you need to sit for 10 minutes to remove the debris stuck to the filter with a toothpick to adequately get it clean. What a huge waste of time and a mess! I'd gladly pay for a bag to avoid this hassle. At least a bag holds more dirt before losing suction. It got so bad that it couldn't even pick up an ordinary staple on the hard floor.
Another problem is the exhausting air that is at the bottom and blows forward. It's funny to see how as you're moving towards the dirt, some of it blows away! Try going into a corner and watch the dust have nowhere to go but up and into your face! I had to juryrig a kind of deflector to direct the air sideways and up. Isn't it obvious to the manufacturer that this can't work the way they made it?
On the plus side, the telescoping handle is nice, and it's light with a long cord.
Find a bagged vacuum. Trust me on this.
Customer Review: Easily worth three times the price Summary: 5 Stars
An odorless vacuum! The Hepa filter really works. Great on bare floors and using the attachment tool. Truly light weight. We've used it now for 6 months and really love it. Drawback--not for use with carpet.
Customer Review: Eureka 437AZ Summary: 2 Stars
The air is blowing out under the bottom front of dust collection can. As a result, the air blows away the dust before the vacuum cleaner sucks the dusts in. To prevent from blowing the dust away, the handle should be held very low, so that the air blows up rather forward to blow the dust away.
It is convenient to vacuum the stairs because it is light and the motor is strong.
Customer Review: Eureka 437AZ Best Machine for the Buck Summary: 4 Stars
This is the best lightweight vacuum around. It has great suction and it's smaller size allows the unit fit in tight spots where larger units cannot fit. It is bagless unit and like all other bagless units you must take care when you empty it and cleaning the filter. We had the green unit and gave it to our son and got the new model. The power paw is a great accessory, I also use it with my shop vacuum to clean the car. The rotating brush on the power paw do a great job on the auto carpet and we also use it on fabric furniture throughout the house.
Customer Review: Eureka 437AZ Lightweight Vacuum Summary: 5 Stars
I'm very happy with this vacuum. It's strong and has all the benefits of the very large vacuums including on board tools. I'm used to a self-propelled vacuum, so on carpet this is a little different to use (requires a little muscle), but it does a terrific job and I'm always amazed at the amount of debris it picks up. I purchased this for my lower level and I also us it on the stairs and find it convenient to use. The adjustable height ergonomic handle is nice and easy on the hand. I had already purchased a similar model of this vacuum for my son in college, and it is still going strong. This is my first bagless vacuum, so far I like it a lot, I know I won't miss the replacement bags!
