Customer Review: Best (cheap) vacuum I've ever had

You could pay a lot more for a Miele vacuum and get something quieter and better built. But I've been using this for months now and have been totally happy with its quality and its price. Yes, the hose is a bit flimsy and will occasionally fold; yes, it's loud; yes, it heats up when used. But it also has extremely powerful suction and does a great job on hard floors and carpet. The suction control ring on the handle takes a moment to practice but works great once you're used to it -- sometimes the simplest solution is fine, as in this case. I've never had problems with the attachments falling off as I've seen described (just push them on hard and they stay on). Because it uses bags, there's no post-vacuuming cleanup as with bagless vacs I've used. It's also much easier to maneuver than an upright. I'm a retired grandma and have been using the Mighty mite since my own children were young. I've just purchased my third one, the new Pet Lover. I never dreamed that anything could get cat fur up so quickly and thoroughly, literally seconds. It's great on everything, actually: floors, furniture, curtains, whatever, and all the tools are handy at all times, because they each have their own little storage spot right on the machine. In addition the cord is easy to wind up, and the whole thing is very compact, easy to store in a small spot. There isn't anything I don't like about the Eureka 3684F Pet Lover Mighty Mite. I bought this to replace a Eureka upright, designed to vacuum carpeted apartment floors, but hardwood floors in my new house - not so much.
I read many reviews of this Eureka Mighty Mite, on here and elsewhere, and despite some negative details mentioned by other buyers, took the chance and bought it.
I LOVE THIS VACUUM. IT WAS WELL WORTH MY MONEY.
It's lightweight, the suction is fantastic, the attachments are great - the air turbined powerpaw is a cool tool - especially for cat-haired couches, and fur-lined cat trees!
Someone disliked the pressure-fittings - well, I find them convenient to disconnect when I want to go for a cobweb. Someone disliked the "flimsy hose" - well, you can step on it, but it bounces back great. Looks plenty tough to me.
I can't wait to buy a few more attachments; I can't wait to clean my car with it this Spring!

I've had the item for some months now and have gotten a lot of use out of it. I have to agree with most of the other reviewers, both bad and good. It is a powerful little vacuum and works GREAT on hard floors (we have ceramic tile, Pergo, and linoleum). It's light weight and useful on stairs. On carpet it can suck up dust and debris, but can't handle hair at all. The pet hair attachment is super useful, but as soon as the bag gets half full you lack the suction to use it.
The design is pretty poor. Cord storage is about as bad as having none at all. The power button is only convenient if you carry the thing around, which makes the wheels pointless. The hose and telescopic extension are good lengths, though the quality of the hose is poor. I've NEVER had a hose that was so flimsy and expect I'll have to replace/repair it in short order. The cord is a little short for large spaces. The main body isn't very maneuverable and falls over. Worst of all is the opening for controlling suction power. I've never seen anything so pathetic. It's just a hole with a twist turn cover and even when it's completely closed you can tell there's no seal on it. Location of it makes it easy to open unintentionally.
Overall I'd say it's great for someone in a small house or apartment with hard floors and a pet. But if you have kids or carpets you might do better to look elsewhere.

The Eureka 3684F Pet Lover Mighty Mite is a fine little vacuum. Does not take up much room, does floors very well, I have not used the pet brush attachment as I do not have a pet, but I did attach it and it has a very strong brushing action. I also like the HEPA filter, no dust in the exaust. Has a nice long cord.
