Customer Review: Does not work and parts break quickly!

I was looking for a vacuum that will pick up after a dog, 3 cats, and my daughter. After reading reviews, I decided to buy this vacuum one month ago. Now that I own it, I don't understand how it got such good reviews! The main vacuum does not have adjustable height settings, so it is always at the lowest setting. This means it does not have a setting for higher carpet and does not work AT ALL on shag or plush carpet. On our hardwood floors and low carpet, it picks up cat hair and NOTHING ELSE. Do not buy if you have children, because this vacuum does not even touch crumbs. It won't even pick up loose strings on the rug. So, since the main vacuum doesn't work, I've been bending over and vacuuming with the hand-held powerpaw. That attachment stopped working altogether last week, and I've only owned the vacuum for a month! Also, the tab that adjusts the handle height snapped off because it is cheap plastic, so now the handle is stuck at the lowest height and I have to hunch over to run the vacuum. This is the worst vacuum I have ever owned and I plan on telling everyone how awful it is, throwing it out, and buying a real vacuum that actually works.Customer Review: Drunken vacuum cleaner: it spews and falls over

I wish I'd done more research before buying this vacuum, because this vacuum is not adequate for everyday cleaning. The best I can say for this product is that the rollers themselves work on the carpet to pick up dirt.
However:
(1) The hose attachment on this vacuum is *really* inadequate. Using the hose -- to use the pet-paw advertised! -- literally sends dust flying everywhere. This is not just because the hose itself gets dusty, but because the back-flow of air is inadequately filtered. I'm wheezing from the backwash of dust I've picked up.
(2) The entire vacuum tips over when using the hose if you're not careful to force it into a locked position. Needless to say, combined with the hose that spews dirt backwards from the canister, this is not a pretty combination.
(3) As others have mentioned, emptying the bagless canister is not an easy task -- long hairs stick to the filtration system and cause even MORE dust to go flying everywhere, and therefore you have to sit there getting your hands filthy to merely empty the vacuum.
Next time, I'd probably get the Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Upright Vacuum, Bagless, UH70120 for a similar price.

I have owned my Eureka Optima for a couple years now and use it a couple times a week at the most on the tile in our great room. It picks up well but the wheels keep flying off. The groves which hold them on have worn off. I like the hose attachment but it is toooooo short. I am shopping for a replacement.Customer Review: Ecxellent Vaccum

Very easy to use right out of the box. I own a Kirby but immediately after using the Kirby the Eureka picked up a canister full of pet hair and dust. Removed the pet odor from the carpet as well, and no messy bags to contend with. I would recommend this item if you own pets. I gave the product 4 stars rather than 5 due to the short length of the hose for accessories. However it still does the job. It is very light weight and easy to handle.
