Worked like it was supposed to. We used it to trace out speaker wiring in a house so we knew where to cut our holes for the speakers. We also use it when we run CAT5/6 in office buildings to trace the cable from the outlet back to the switch or punch down. The only slight problem we had was when we would trace the speaker wire. I guess the signal was strong and we would get some induction on the other wire that we were not tracing. But we didn't miss a hole or cut in the wrong spot, the wire was there.Customer Review: Extech Circuit Finder Kit

Very good choice for an initial investment for a non powered circuit finder. Kit comes complete with a carrying case but no batteries. Good for checking circuits less than 150 feet since the signal from the tone generator becomes weaker the greater the distance from the signal generator. Construction of the amplifier probe is okay but I would not drop it. The tone generator is more ruggedly constructed.Customer Review: Good but limited

This product is easy to use and economical. It really works well for identifying wires in a bundle, and matching wires with speakers. What it does not do at all is tracing wires behind wall board. Or if your budget is tight. You need to be close to the wire to get the tone with the probe (a few milimeters) but it allows you to pinpoint exactly which wire you're trying to find. If you are a professional that will rely heavily on it, go with something a little higher end but for occasional tracing, this will be a good product.Customer Review: The best device ever made

i needed to find where some cat 5 cables went and right when i tryed to find them i heard the tone. it was the easiest thing. i definately reccomned this to someone who has trouble locating cables.
