Tools and Hardware Reviews of Factory-Reconditioned Electrolux EL 5010 Aptitude Upright VacuumCustomer Review: Quiiet, Powerful. 2 speeds, long cord and cool looking Summary: 5 Stars
This vacuum is very quiet and powerful.
It also has a very LONG cord which is very useful.
You don't have to keep moving the plug which makes this task go much faster.
The 2 speed motor allows you to clean throw rugs without sucking them up of the floor.
The bag is a little small but I guess that gives it more suction.
As far a Vacuum goes, this is the best I have ever owned.
Customer Review: So very quiet, well built and clean to use - Highly Recommended! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this as a second vacuum (I also own a Bissell Healthy Home) and am tired of buying low-end toss-aways as a second vac. At $99 as a refurb, looked like an incredible deal. I am so impressed that it has become my main vacuum!
I am happy to say that it not only looked like an incredible deal - it IS an incredible deal and an excellent vacuum! This vacuum has a nice solid feel to it that vacs in this price range new just don't have. Here are my findings as pros and cons....
Pros:
* Comes fully assembled right out of the box
* Includes a very complete set of attachments including a good bare floor brush and enough wands to make it work well. Also has a turbo brush.
* Very, VERY quiet operation, even on high speed. Low speed is actually variable, still grooms the carpet nicely, lets you ramp up the speed a bit - while quiet enough to vacuum and not wake anybody! I've never experienced such a quiet vacuum.
* Light weight for a full function vac - light enough to pull itself!
* Very comfortable handle with controls
* Is bagged (Bagless seems to be good only on higher-end units)
* Bright headlight
* Nice long hose and 3 wands - great for bare floors or ceiling cobwebs.
* Long power cord.
Cons:
* Front bumper is hard plastic - not soft.
* Overall build/feel is sub-par for a $250 - $300 vacuum, but great for a $100 refurb. A Dyson (which I've owned) or my Bissell Healthy Home are much "beefier" built machines. But again, at the $100 point, this is very well built.
** Overall I am very pleased with my purchase, and can strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a decent quality vacuum at a affordable price. As I stated above, I bought this as a second vacuum - and have ended up using it all the time. 5 stars from me!
Customer Review: Too Hot Too Handle Summary: 1 Stars
After 2 years of owning the vacuum, it will not shut off. You have to unplug it for it to shut off. After the vacuum runs for more then 10 it gets so hot that the handle is melting, and it burns you. My daughter and my carpenter both got burned. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
Customer Review: We love this vacuum! Summary: 5 Stars
We were skeptical at first, but this vacuum has proven itself over the weeks. I had not realized what a poor job our old vacuum was doing; we only replaced it when it began to smoke. We have 3 small children, and this vacuum takes care of ALL the messes with no problem. And I love the onboard attachments...the hose seems to have really good suction. The variable speed is nice too if you are going from carpet to hard floors; it makes a difference. I also appreciate the variation in carpet height. This vacuum has lots of features I didn't know I was missing. Thus far, we have no complaints, only praise, for this machine!
Customer Review: heavy vacuum Summary: 2 Stars
This vacuum cleaner, like most today, seems very heavy and bulky to me.
Hard to maneuver, but it does pick up OK on both wood floors and carpet.
I'm disappointed in it because I thought Electrolux would have made something
a little lighter and better quality, but it does the job.
