Very bright with a cold, stark light. I bought this thinking it would be nice for a stand lamp in the home office (who wouldn't like daylight, right?). The problem for me was that the light was extremely cool and made the room look stark--this is not a fault of the bulb per se, but it is something to think about if you're using it to light a room. I ended up using it as the main light in my garage, where it makes for a great work light.
Note well, the home application for this CFL will be limited as the bulb is comically large.
