Tools and Hardware Reviews of Fenix TK40 High Performance Cree LED Flashlight, Maximum 630 Lumens

Customer Review: Flashlight
Summary: 3 Stars

Upon arrival I found the case the flashlight came in damaged. One of the handles was broken off. The flashing came with extras, such as a strap, lanyard and metal ring but without any kind of instruction as to how to assemble them. The light is very bright and handy though.

Customer Review: Great Light Good Provider
Summary: 5 Stars

Light as advertised and shipped in factory new condition in timely fashion (considering I picked free ground which is slower).

Great light great shipper.

Customer Review: Great light
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a very nice light. It is well made and is VERY bright. If you are used to a Maglite type light, this will blow you away on its highest setting. The lower power settings are perfectly usable and the high power setting is so bright that you can't look directly into the beam. It isn't quite a handheld spotlight but it is very bright.

Customer Review: Great light ... Poor strap ... Not intuitive
Summary: 4 Stars

This light is bright... VERY bright . The instructions and this light's actual operation are poor. It has six different modes. Three single light levels and three flashing / flashy levels. All are reached buy manipulating the ONE tail switch. Once one knows how it works; it is still not that great to navigate through these settings.

The strap capability of this light is very bad. There are holes where one could attach rings and then attach the included strap but the rings are not included. I may have missed something...

Finally, the instructions strongly recommend that one turns the head of the light 2 1/2 times counter clockwise to turn the light completely off. I have to do this with my Surefire lights I was not expecting to have to do this with this light.

Customer Review: Great light, not the best reliability
Summary: 4 Stars

Interestingly, my review of this flashlight has changed. When I originally reviewed the light, I didn't have it long enough. I will still say that this light is an excellent and extremely bright light. It is also still very durable. However, one issue has bothered me about this light: although it is durable, when dropped on the ground, the center post in the battery magazine comes loose and then the light doesn't work. This is not a permanent damage but I have to pull the battery magazine out and take all of the batteries out and then tighten this post over and over again each time the light is struck or dropped.

Also, keep in mind that although it is indeed durable, this light comes with no shock-resistant guarantee; it's not even listed as being shock-resistant.

If you're just looking for a durable and extremely bright light or a strobe light, this light is good. But I can't really recommend this light as a professional-use light, especially to those in public safety. I work in Security and I've found myself using a MAGLITE ST2D016 2-D Cell LED Flashlight, Black now for 3 reasons:

1. I know that if I drop it, it's still going to work.
2. If it gets lost, I'm not out $130
3. It's bright enough to do the job.

Just keep in mind, you don't want your light to fail if you're in a bad circumstance, so I still go with my Maglite professionally. The TK40's reliability suffers from the amount of parts.
