The media fibers are polypropylene and polyolefin plastic.

As clean filters, the product is not restrictive to air flow. Filters will
become restrictive if they are not changed when needed. We say filter life
is approximately 3 months and this is an approximation. Filter life is
actually determined by the user's living conditions and will vary for every
user. To determine when the filter needs to be change, we suggest holding
it up to the light. When you cannot see light through the filters, it will
need to be changed even if it is before 3 months.
If you are concerned about airflow, you might want to use the Dust & Pollen
filter which has the lowest pressure drop, and change it more frequently.
The capture rate of this filter is also lower.

Effective at capturing large airborne allergens like mold, spores, pollen, and large particles like dust and lint. The electrostatic filter attracts and captures airborne dust, pollen, dust-mite debris, lint, and other air-polluting contaminants. With each pass through the specially pleated filter, the air in your living space improves, making for a healthier home environment. The 3M dust and pollen reduction filter is made with both positively charged and negatively charged fibers that act like tiny magnets to attract air-polluting contaminants. Since particles in the air are either positively or negatively charged, they are attracted to and captured by the filter and kept out of your living space.
Electrostatic filters, including the 3M dust and pollen reduction filter, perform better than comparable non-electrostatic fiberglass and washable/reusable filters, because they attract and capture the small, allergy-aggravating microparticles that non-electrostatic filters can't.
