Tools and Hardware Reviews of Filtrete 9831DC-6 Dust and Pollen Filters, 600 MPR, 16 x 25 x 1, 6-PackCustomer Review: Excellent Filter Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent filter for the best price around. They capture fine dust particles. Need to change them every two months depending upon usage. They go in white and come out covered in gunk. Thank you Amazon.com!
Customer Review: Good Filter Summary: 4 Stars
they look good. i change mine out once a month. my kids aren't sneezing. good product.
Customer Review: Good filters.. Summary: 3 Stars
These are decent quality products, but I purchased similar products elsewhere with same MERV rating for quite a bit less. Thus, the price is a bit high for this one...if you have indoor allergies problems, you may want to purchase higher MERV rating filters..
This is more convenient for me...got them at my door instead of driving to the local merchant!
Customer Review: Great Filters! Summary: 5 Stars
As far as I can tell, you have to find where you want to be on the continuum between fineness of a filter and efficient air flow of a filter. For some people and in some types of homes, a more expensive and fine model makes sense. For others, an easier air flow and less fine filter is the solution.
These dust-and-pollen filters work best for me because I have an extremely airtight home wherein air circulates many times before being changed. I'm able to capture particulate matter such as dust in these filters and keep the house from getting dusty. Also, I don't have carpeting in my home or other features that provide ready habitats for allergens. Therefore, I prefer the easier air flow and I already have the air passing through the filter many times before being changed out for new air from outside.
I'm noticing that these filters capture dust and particulate matter easily. These are good filters, and one would have to spend more to get finer filters.
Customer Review: The best filter for heat pumps. Summary: 5 Stars
I was using the red Filtrete 1000 filters and my HVAC tech said those were too restrictive for a heat pump system since a heat pump relies on more airflow to obtain their BTU rating than a conventional furnace system. He recommended I use a cheap pleated filter one step above the worthless fiberglass type filters. Now I believe that a heat pump relies on good air flow but I also know that HVAC techs rely on service calls. They love to come out and clean your system because it is full of dust from a cheap filter and charge you an arm and a leg. Dirty systems are also not covered under warranty so it's a win win for them. I did some research and found that some cheap pleated filters can also be very restrictive. I really wanted to use a good filter like the Filtretes but needed something with more airflow. I saw on the blue 600 Filtrete filters that it said "Best Filtrete filter for high velocity equipment" so I tried one and it is the perfect match between airflow and air cleaning ability. I highly recommend the blue Filtrete 600 for your heat pump system.
