This thing is a monster. I guarantee you will underestimate it's size and weight. This is not the safe in which granny should put her savings bonds, stock certificates and anything she might want to mess with more than once every few months, mainly because granny will want to be able to move it and will likely break her hip in the process. Plan on putting it somewhere where it will not be in the way, but is easily accessible - this isn't a safe that is designed to be carted around the house every other day, which is great for me because I got it to replace my $45 per year safe deposit box that I went to once or twice a year.
I am pleasantly surprised with this safe, and would recommend it to anyone who has to protect, among other things, full size papers without having to fold or bend them, and is not needing to get in it on a daily basis. If you need something for daily use, find something smaller.

I bought this to store some keys and various condo files. It's nice and compact and seems well-made. I only wish this were a combination lock instead of one with a key. I'm afraid of losing the key and not being able to unlock it.Customer Review: Exactly as described

I upgraded to this safe from one of the smaller flat kinds. I am so glad I did. This safe has room for many hanging folders, a few boxes of checks, and so on. This can fit all of my most important papers instead of trying to cram as much as possible in a smaller one.
It is HEAVY. Really heavy. It doesn't have a handle, and it's not easy to move around. It had a small dent in the corners when it was delivered because of the heft, but I wasn't so concerned about that. It comes with two keys. I store one off-site in case there really is a fire.

I purchased this file/safe recently and find it to be an excellent choice. From other reviews, I was concerned about its arrival in good condition, but it was flawless. The locking mechanism is easy to use, and although it is heavy, it is still quite portable. All our important papers fit well in hanging files.
