Customer Review: Not too Big, Not too Small...Just Right!

I purchased this to store important documents. There really is no way to tell if it will work as advertised unless it's in a fire and a flood so I can't comment on that. But it is very heavy because it's lined with concrete which gives it it's protection capabilites. You can tell when the lid is shut that it is a good seal. It locks and unlocks flawlessy and the lid reopens without any trouble.
It is large enough to fit many letter size documents and small enough to fit in our closet. Overall very happy with the purchase

The item itself would rate a 5, but I had to deduct two stars for Amazon's poor packing job. They used a much larger Amazon box on the outside of the product's own packaging and filled the extra space with crumpled paper. The weak Amazon cardboard arrived ripped & smashed. Inside, the product box was smooshed in on one corner and the fire safe also had a slightly smashed corner - no way to tell if it was there before the item was shipped to me or if it happened enroute. It doesn't look bad enough to compromise the integrity of the file safe, so I will pass on the hassle of trying to return it. It would have been better if they just slapped a label on the product box. The Amazon box just couldn't hold the weight of this item!Customer Review: Provides security

I bought this for my daughter after there was a fire at her apartment complex. She wanted something she could keep her important papers in that would be safe from both fire and the sprinkler system. You can also keep your computer back up disk in it. I have one myself and I've been very satisfied with it.Customer Review: Second One Was A-OK

First unit shipped in it's store display carton without any packing and received badly damaged - it is heavy and obviously had been dropped on just about every corner, breaking the outer cover and exposing insulation.
Called Amazon, they wanted me to return USPS before sending new replacement unit. Explained this case weighted almost 40 Lbs. and no way was I shipping USPS and requested a UPS or FedEx prepaid shipping label. It was determined at that point to throw it in the garbage as it was going to cost more to ship it than I paid for it.
Amazon sent me replacement unit, well packed and received in perfect condition. Can't say whether it is actually fireproof and hope I never find out, but it is well constructed and well insulated, and did I mention heavy?

I received this as a Christmas gift. I am using it to protect my photo negatives, home videos and CDs. When it was delievered the inside of the safe was damp and all of the contents(paperwork) as well. Weird for a "waterproof" safe. I dried it out and am using it. I hope I never have to discover how well it works. It is sturdy and easy to use. For size comparison- It can fit a ladies size 8 and 1/2 dress shoe box inside with about 3-4 inches of room above.
