Tools and Hardware Reviews of First Alert 2072F Anti-Theft Safe with Digital Lock, 1.00 Cubic Foot, GrayCustomer Review: Honeywell safe Summary: 4 Stars
This item is a great value for the money. It is not fire resistant, but is not supposed to be. It is used as a gun safe, and fits the bill better than many gun specific safes. It has plenty of room, and a solid feel. The only thing I don't really like is the key system. I'd rather have a digital only lock, like the hotel safe we used on holiday. The code was whatever you chose at the time, so it could be changed daily, if desired. With this safe, you have to use both the digital keypad, and a key. Also, you have to hide (and remember where), a master key.
I would highly recomend this item.
Customer Review: Honeywell safe Summary: 3 Stars
My first key broke in the lock the first time I opened the safe. Amazon replaced the safe immediately at no cost to me. I wish the keys were a little sturdier. Otherwise, I think this safe is a good deal.
Customer Review: Junk Summary: 1 Stars
As others have stated, the lock cylinder is junk. The key is stuck, the lock will not turn, and the key can not be removed. The only positive is that it happened in the open position.
I called Sisco, which made the Honeywell safe on Nov. 2, 2009. They promised to send a replacement lock cylinder "within a week" I called back on Nov. 23, Dec. 14, Dec. 31, and Jan. 7, 2010. Each time they said 1 week.
On Jan. 7 I was given a Fed Ex Tracking number which shows it was shipped yesterday from Gardena, CA and is on the truck for delivery today, Jan. 7.
9 1/2 weeks. Even if it comes, Honeywell and First Alert who now owns them, has lost a lot of their reputation.
The safe construction is satisfactory. Even if the new lock cylinder works, the cylinder itself is an incredibly cheap piece.
DO NOT BUY THIS SAFE. Carefully consider any Honeywell product.
Customer Review: Keypad is Worthless, Waste of Money Summary: 1 Stars
Maybe we have a faulty safe, but I can insert the key and unlock the safe at any given time, regardless of having put in my password on the keypad. The keypad seems to serve no purpose at all. Waste of money.
Customer Review: Kills Batteries - Keypad is a waste Summary: 2 Stars
I didn't expect much for the price I paid, so I wasn't disappointed in the quality, but I can't use the keypad. The little light that comes on when you open the door, doesn't go off. It will kill the copper top batteries in a day, so the next day, the keypad is dead. I have to keep the key handy as it is the only way to get in. If it wasn't for this, Id be somewhat content. If you're looking for something to deter your children from getting into your valuables, this will work, but it really just keeps the honest people honest. Serves it's purpose.
