fantastic item. Incredibly light with great momentum for chopping. Great for backpacking or camping. Product came sharp but I still took it to a stone. Sharpened very easy, now holds a razors edge. I did hit a rock while chopping and put a nick in the blade. 5 min on a stone and it was as good as new.Customer Review: BEST HATCHET EVER!!!

I just got this hatchet in the mail today and have been chopping large kindling with it all day and I'm extremely impressed. I can only say good things about it. First off the handle is unbreakable, it can even stand being run over by a truck! And the blade of the hatchet is very sharp and the steel is quite nice. I'm also planning on buying the 17-Inch Splitting Hatchet because I'm very satisfied with their line of axes/hatchets!Customer Review: Best hatchet I've owned

I've owned my Fiskars hatchet for around 5 years now. I did not resharpen it until after 4 years of using it camping and chopping down bushes and small trees around my house. Only got dull after it went into the sandy and rocky dirt a few dozen times while chopping close to the ground. It is easy to put a very sharp edge back on it with a sharpening stone within a couple of minutes. This axe came near razor sharp. I like the feel of this axe. Weight is focused at the head while the handle is light and comfortable. I had a tree fall on my property last weekend and this hatchet was excellent for removing all the smaller branches with just one or few strokes. The handle is surprisingly sturdy for being so light weight. Does not feel like it would ever break or the head to fall off. I would definitely buy another if I ever lost this axe. I say lost because I think this will never wear out. Should last a lifetime. I use this every camping trip except when I pack in, then I use the Fiskars retractable saw which weighs only a few ounces but can easily fit in a pack side pocket and cut apart 6 inch logs with ease. I bought one of these for my brother as a gift after seeing him use an old style all metal hatchet. He never went back.Customer Review: Exceeds expectations

I expressed a lot of caution when making this purchase. I camp and hike a fair amount and I punish my hatchet more than any tool I carry. I found that this particular hatchet has a smooth coating simular to teflon on the blade which helps it cut through wood like warm butter. Well not quite that well but it is a noticable improvement. The handle is supposedly indestructable but I've yet to run it over with my truck like the commercial advertises but it does feel tough. Overall the weight is light and the length just right. As long as it keeps cutting like it is now I will be happy. So far the blade has held it's edge longer than any hatchet I've had to date.
