Tools and Hardware Reviews of Folding Helping Hand Long-Reach Pick-Up Gripper - Light Weight Aluminum BodyCustomer Review: Heavy Summary: 2 Stars
I have a neuromuscular disease and am in a power chair. I can't live without reachers in every room. I constantly drop things that I can't reach from my chair. This brand of reacher is way too heavy for me.I have found the "Nova reachers" the best. They're very light (24-42") and the full hand trigger is easy and I find the hook very useful. It also hangs most anywhere. Also, they don't lock which is more of a benefit than detriment...the locking is a pain. Check them out before you buy. Nova Reacher - 32 Inch Dragon, Brushed Aluminum. Customer Review: INFERIOR PRODUCT-FOLDING GRABBER Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased two of these Grabbers and both had serious problems. In the middle of the bar there is a mechanism to lock the length in place. On one of the units the button that you push to lock it was rolling around in the box and had to be repaired, which I did. When you squeeze the trigger on the other one the suction cups close and won't release the item you picked up. This happens each time you use the grabber without sliding the lock that allows you to hold an item without continuing to squeeze the trigger. I would not advise anyone to purchase this grabber.
Customer Review: Invaluable Summary: 5 Stars
With some mobility issues, I have found this device almost as good as having a personal assistant. I call it my "grabber", because I use it to grab things. A paper on the floor, a dropped piece of food, a milk bottle lid, a fork, even a can of soup. And of course, there are all those things up in the cupboard.
It is lightweight, which matters a LOT when you are reaching UP.
I know some people have had a problem with its locking mechanism. I haven't, but I also rarely lock it. [shrug] My hand strength is OK, and holding it closed for 5 seconds around a can is not hard for me.
Its folding ability means I can toss it in the car (back seat or trunk). Why do I take it with me? Have YOU ever dropped your car keys? If reaching down is a problem, it is a problem no matter where you are. [sigh]
Anyway, I love mine and I certainly can see no reason to spend more money for duplicates that seems to have the same functionality. I've used them for years, and each one seems to last about a year before the little rubber suction cups fall off their attaching screws -- at which time a dab of superglue solves the problem "stripped hole" forever.
Actually I bought FOUR, and I have them placed in bedroom, kitchen, laundry area, and bathroom. They're inexpensive, and worth the ability to pick up stuff immediately instead of having to remember to go get one when I get a round TUIT.
Customer Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
Just about every weekend I pick up trash on my rural country road. It leads to an ORV park, so there are LOTS of beer bottles, fast food wrappers, pop cans, etc. This grabber is awesome! I can pick up bigger/heavier stuff like partially full beer bottles, and small items like the straws from to-go cups, cigarette packages, and condiment packages. I may not get as much exercise (no bending to pick up), but it takes less time to do the chore and I like that.

Not great quality it works ok! The gripper cups are a hard plastic so doesnt pick up thinkg like another tpe I have had before. Ok in a pinch but it not worth the money paid. I had to duck tape the cups on because the screw kept coming out!
