Tools and Hardware Reviews of Frigidaire 50-Pint Dehumidifier, FAD504TDDCustomer Review: Amazing machine!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this dehumidifier after my basement started developing a musky scent. I looked online and the reviews for this frigidaire looked pretty solid so I bought it. I couldn't be happier with the results. I had this thing running five minutes after the package arrived (the start up is extremely simple). It works like magic, the bucket gets full at least 2-3 times a day which is still amazing to me. I had no idea that it is possible to suck so much water out of the air so quickly. I've seen a complaint in some reviews that it is difficult to get the bucket out without spilling some water. I have absolutely no idea where those complaints come from. On my unit, the bucket is VERY easily removed and I've never spilled a drop in over two weeks of use. This machine exceeded all my expectations and the musky odor was gone from my basement after about 3-4 days of use. Amazing!
Customer Review: Awesome!!! Summary: 4 Stars
Very nice, working perfect, and powerful!!! Someone says the sound when it works is little bothering, but way less than my expectation. Very cost effective and strongly recommended.
The only issue is that it ejects warm airs from the right side when it is working, and sometimes it makes the room temperature little hot.
Customer Review: Awkward bucket design Summary: 4 Stars
Dehumidifier really sucks the water out of the air. Only complaint is the bucket isn't big enough and is hard to remove to empty it.
Customer Review: Awsome! Summary: 5 Stars
This works great. It has solved my water problem completely. I love it. It is quiet too.
Customer Review: BEWARE: One major flaw in this product Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased this product 1 week ago. I wish I hadn't. This dehumidifier blows almost CONSTANTLY (24 hours a day, even when it is not dehumidifying) when the power is on.
The way dehumidifiers are supposed to work (and the way my Kenmore worked for 10 years) is that when the humidity in the room exceeds the desired level, the blower and the compressor turn on until the humidity is removed.
With the Frigidaire dehumidifiers, the blower runs almost constantly (it turns itself off for a few minutes every so often, with no apparent pattern, otherwise it is on all the time.) Only the compressor is controlled by the humidity level. The blower is powerful, creating a fairly strong air current in the room, creating unnecessary noise and is a total waste of electricity.
I called Frigidaire customer service, and they confirmed that this is the way the product is designed. I wish there was some mention of this in the user manual, which I read online before buying this product.
I found an identical criticism posted on another website regarding this problem.
