Tools and Hardware Reviews of Frigidaire 50-Pint Dehumidifier, FAD504TDDCustomer Review: Does exactly what it's supposed to do Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this unit for about 2 months and I'm very pleased with the purchase. It came quickly and was packaged appropriately. It went to work almost immediately (you're supposed to let it sit upright and unused for a bit after arrival) and has been on almost continuously since then. The humidity reading is accurate (checked against a freshly calibrated hygrometer).
Yes, it makes noise but much less than the window AC unit I have going most of the time as well. It moves between my bathroom and kitchen in a very small house and the noise level isn't totally irritating. There are two fan speeds with only a barely noticeable difference between them. I just keep it on high.
My only two complaints are that it occasionally has a quiet hum/rattle that only seems to irritate me as nobody else notices it and that the bucket is difficult for me to take out and shift to the sink without spilling some water (it fills very near to the top). The hum goes away with a light tap to the side of the unit and nobody else pours water on the floor when emptying it, so these are relatively minor issues. I would buy this again and recommend it to friends and family.
Customer Review: Does the job Summary: 5 Stars
I just received this a few days ago and it has removed a lot of moisture already. I had some damage to my house due to the almost constant rain we've had this past year and couldn't do some of the repairs without drying out the house as much as possible. It seems to be working well. It's a little noisy at first, but about the same as my air conditioner. It was very warm and humid today, so I kept this on without operating my air conditioner. I was surprised at how comfortable I was without the A/C. It really makes a difference.
I found it easy to understand the operating instructions/settings. Also, the water collection bucket is simple to remove and replace, and has an indicator on the front as well as the audible signal when the bucket is full.
It is fairly large, but very sturdy and seems very well made, and can be moved since there are casters on the bottom.
This was definitely a good purchase.

Bought this item to get the moisture and musty odor smell out of the basement. Has done just what we wanted it to. Ran it continusly for the first three days and then set it at the humidity level we wanted in the basement and it keeps it right there.
Customer Review: Does the job! Summary: 5 Stars
After reading all the reviews on different dehumidifiers, and noting that this was one of the few that got decent reviews, I decided to give it a try. Specifically, I was after a dehumidifier for my bathroom, approximately 8x10, as the room has no temperature control and we live in an area with humid summers. The room was smelling suspiciously of mildew and no amount of cleaning seemed to be able to contain it. We set this up in the bathroom and it went to work, at first needing emptied twice in a 24-hour period. It has done an excellent job! It still needs emptied once a day, but the mildew smell is gone and it consistently rides between 35-40% humidity.
The bucket is easy to change - I'm not exactly mechanically inclined nor particularly strong and I haven't had any trouble with it. The filter is easy to clean: just pull out the bucket and pull down on the filter, rinse and reinstall.
It also easily moves around on rollers, which is helpful in such a tight space. It is certainly audible, but the noise doesn't annoy me, and I'm a musician with fairly sensitive ears.
It does put out some heat, though nothing compared to the LG model I tried earlier this year, so I shut it off for showers. But, the pros outweigh the cons, and I would highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Does the job, Plus Summary: 5 Stars
I needed a dehumidifier that would do the job at a fair price, I first did a lot of research on Amazon and a few other web sites that offer customer reviews. I ordered another model from a different web site because Amazon said it was back ordered and they did not know how long, if ever they would get it in, after about two weeks the other web site said "ooops" they could no longer get either. The moral of the story is if Amazon can't get it, it probably can't be got. Once I came to my senses I looked on Amazon and found a different model, a "new model" the Frigidaire FAD504TDD 50-pint dehumidifier. It arrived a few days later and I set it up, I ran it on continuous for about two weeks, it pulled 4 gallons a day out the air in our home and we noticed a Big Differiance right away. The house felt cold and damp at 70 degrees before, and after it felt very comfortable and dry at 68 degrees.
We live in Florida and have a new house that has Foam insulation in the attic and in the block walls. It's "very air tight". When we run the A.C. it drys out the house nicly, but when it's cold like we had this last winter (1st 3 months of 2010) we don't get the same chance to dry out after taking showers, doing laundry and such. So needless to say we had a real moisture problem, we would find lots of moisture on the inside of our windows prior to the dehumidifier and noticed almost no mositure after dehumidifying. We had some mold and had to replace our inside A.C. unit after only 5 seasons, the A.C. man said he was very surprised to see how old the unit looked and was surprised it leaked so soon, it wasn't until later that we figured out the damage was most likly caused by the excess mositure in the air.
We parked this unit in our bedroom right next to the bed, and yes it does make some noise, its like the A.C. unit you might hear in the Motel 6. It's relly not that loud and we got used to it right away. You need to understand that it works like a mini A.C. unit to pull the moisture out of the air, it will cycle and it will make some noise. It's easy to empty out and easy to clean the filter, and the unit gives you plenty of warning as to when to clean the filter. No more moisture and no more mold. Now that summer is here we plan to use it for about an hour after showers to help the A.C. unit not have to work so hard.
Over all I give this dehumidifier a 5 star plus rating, and the same for Amazon.
Thank You.
