Tools and Hardware Reviews of Frigidaire 70-Pint DehumidifierCustomer Review: Best Value in a 70 pint per day dehumidifier Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this dehumidifier after browsing reviews on the web. This model was chosen as the best value by Consumer Research and most user reviews are positive. I live in a 1200 sq. ft. loft with 12 ft ceilings that is surrounded by earth and trees. When it rains the humidity level reaches 80% in my space. I knew I would need the most powerful unit possible and this one at 70 pints per day and around $200 seemed to be a good value. Most other 70 pint units seem to be $300+. I can say that I'm very impressed with it's performance. It dropped the humidity in my space from 80% to 55% in a few hours. My only complaint which most other users have noted is that it is noisy at the high fan speed and tolerable but still noisy on low. As an industrial designer, I also commend the design of this unit, it's reasonably attractive looking and the controls are well thought out.
If it was quieter I would have given it 5 stars.
Customer Review: Best Yet Summary: 5 Stars
This unit does a great job on my 1800 sq ft basement. Really pulls out the water. Would highly recommended it. Have owned several other dehumidifiers before and this is the "best yet"
Customer Review: Best dehumidifier yet Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this product after lightning wiped out the AmCor dehumidifier we used in our 2500 sq. ft basement. We live in the Missouri Ozarks where the soil is non-draining clay. That means that moisture -- the elimination of it in our walk-out basement -- is a continual concern. The previous AmCor product did an OK job but this one is superior in the amount of humidity it removes from the air, its appearance and construction. The bucket is easy to handle and empty (we intend to hook it into a drain so we won't have to empty it by hand, but we haven't yet gotten around to it). There's a clever float mechanism in the top of the bucket that shuts down operation and turns on a prominently placed red warning light when the bucket needs emptying. This unit has a filter that cleans the water too -- and another warning light to remind you to clean the filter (running it under water -- easy). Also, unlike the AmCor unit, it arrived undamaged because it had been properly packaged. Thank you, Frigidaire, for coming up with a dehumidifier that works even better than we expected! You've won a couple of fans.
Customer Review: Best humidifier yet! Summary: 5 Stars
This is our third dehumidifier in our muggy Georgia home on a very moist concrete slab.
Both of our prior dehumidifiers worked well but were so noisy and generated so much heat in the house that we returned them.
We have two of these Frigidaire units running on timed cycles now. They work fabulous and are much, much quieter than the prior models. In addition, they are pulling moisture out of the air much quicker than the prior units. Lastly, they put out much less heat as they do their job.
We hope they are going to last as long as our prior units (six years and five years of continuous operation on the others).
Will update next year.
