Customer Review: Dehumidifier That Really Eliminates Humidity

It is like the Sahara in my basement. OK. I am exaggerating, but this dehumidifier is really working. My humidity dropped 20% in 2 days. The only issue is I cannot empty the water fast enough. Igave this dehumidifier by Frigidaire &0 Pint to my neighbor who has Emphysema and this machine did a great job of removing moisture from her home. It was a great help for her breathing. I was amazed as to how well the machine works. We use the water which comes into the machine for our plants. I wonder if this water is water which one could drink do you know? The holder is so clean and easy to empty also. I was truly amazed as to how quickly it removes moisture. We have 970 sq ft basement with poor ventilation. Our sump pump runs over 11 months of the year and hence there is always a water source for moisture in the basement. Over time a musty smell verging on mold was present in basement. We had the basement professionally treated for any possible mold and ran a huge air scrubber for 2 weeks (very loud). The smell was gone and we could re-use our basement. Over the coming weeks, with all the moisture in basement, we began to notice a musty smell again and decided to replace our old dehumidifier.
We are very pleased with the operation. Not quiet, but not too loud. It has basically controlled the moisture problem which was leading to the musty problem in basement. It has reduced the humidity to the minimum listed (35%) and occasionally shuts off. No smell at all in the basement. We should have had this machine for the last 15 years. We use the optional hose to drain water into the sump pit so we don't have to empty machine. Very pleased with this dehumidifier and we are able to enjoy the basement again.

We bought this for our basement and after running it for two days there is a noticeable difference. It is easy to operate and the control panel is easy to navigate. The fan has two speeds. We find the higher speed to be a bit to noisy so we run it on the low speed. The discharge air is slightly warmer than the ambient air. You will want to hook this up to a drain so as to avoid emptying the reservoir several times a day. The is a drain connection, but they do not include a drain hose. If you want it to discharge to a drain, then you will need to buy a short garden hose with a female connector to attach to the dehumidifier. The power draw is about 700 watts. Overall, this is a nice dehumidifier.Customer Review: Does the job as advertised
