Tools and Hardware Reviews of Frigidaire 70-Pint DehumidifierCustomer Review: Does the job! Summary: 5 Stars
Keeps the humidity down in my unfinished basement (approximately 650 square feet of space). Setup was very easy (just follow the instructions). Connected a hose for hassle free water drain into my basement sump. Filter check indicator comes on after about 250 hours of operation (my filter was still clean, no need to wash yet). I saved over $50 buying this unit from Amazon when compared to my local big box store.
Customer Review: Does the job, but energy star compliant? My electric bill went up significantly Summary: 3 Stars
We bought this to user in our basement. We do not ever get any water in the basement, but like most basements it has plenty of moisture in the air, enough so that we've notices a musty smell and some light mold build up on items stored for years. I wanted to install a permanent dehumidifier system, but the cost was obviously much higher than purchasing a portable unit. When I caled around to have a unit installed, pretty much everyone told me to just buy a portable, so I figured I'd give is a shote. The unit is easy to install. Plug it in, run continous for 2-3 day then set the humidity and fan levels after that. Emptying the bucket while easy and efficient, for our house had to be done initially every 2-3 hours and after several days of continous use about every 6-8 hours. I hooked it up with a hose to the existing pump for my heating/air conditioning system and no longer have to empty the bucket. Two main complaints. The fan is loud. We don't hear it at all once we are out of the basement, but eventually I want to finish the basement and being down their with that noise won't be very tolerable. Also my electric bill sky rocketed. I don't know how this can be energy star compliant. My bill has gone up about 70 dollars the first month. I need a unit and this does the job, but I wonder if there was a less noisey more efficient choice out there. Many folks have rated this 5 stars and it seems to be one of the best in the market. Don't get me wrong it's good and does the job, just keep those two items in mind. Each basement is different, i've set my humidity level to 50%. It may be that's too low, but ideal is between 40-60%, which is what i've read online. I may try going 60 -70 to try to cut down it's run time.
Customer Review: EXCELLENT DEHUMIDIFIER Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this Frigidaire 70-pint dehumidifier over one year ago from Amazon.com and it works like a dream.
I have used it constantly since I purchased it, which was last February 2010, except in the summer.
The bucket is slightly inconvenient to empty but its performance outweighs this.

Customer Review: Efficient Dehumidifier it really Eliminates Humidity!!! Summary: 4 Stars
I am very happy with my Frigidaire 70-Pint Dehumidifier. I use it in my unfinished basement which had water from the recent storms. After following the easy instructions, I had it up n running in no time. Turn on the power, set the humidity you want to bring it down to, set the fan speed n you're done.
At first, I used the bucket to collect the water. It took a few times to get use to how to remove it from the unit. After that it wasn't a problem. I now have it continuously draining with a garden hose.
After running it (1st Time) the recommended time on high fan and continuoustly. The humidity was down 20%. From 90 to 70% in less than 24 hours. I bought another humidity reader to put in another part of the basement to see if the readings were the same. The other reader was only different by 2%.
As far as the noise, I don't hear a thing until I'm right near it. I don't hear anything upstairs.
To sum it up, I'm very happy with this unit n recommend it.
Customer Review: Efficient dehumidifier Summary: 4 Stars
The Frigidaire FDF70S1 seems to be a very effective dehumidifier, as it was able to reduce the humidity in a large room by approximately 20% in about three hours. I ran it overnight and the water bucket was about 1/4 full by the morning; this was after emptying the bucket before going to bed.
Setting the unit up is a complete no-brainer. You just plug it in, press the power button, set the humidity level, set the fan speed, and go. The entire process takes about one minute.
The unit will turn off if the water level gets too high. This is a good thing. If you want to use the unit continuously, you can attach a garden hose to an outlet on the unit and it will constantly drain and will run without interruption.
The only complaint I have with the unit is the noise level. I bought this for use in a bedroom in hopes that it would help with my son's asthma, but the fan in the unit is quite loud. There are two fan speeds and the lower fan speed is better, but it is still pretty loud. It reduces humidity quite a bit quicker with the fan set to high, from what I can tell, but it is simply too loud to use in that manner if you are going to be in the room with it.
Bottom line: I would expect that this unit would be PERFECT for drying a basement or something of that nature, but it is a bit loud for occupied rooms.
4/5 stars.
