Tools and Hardware Reviews of Frigidaire 70-Pint DehumidifierCustomer Review: Excellent Product Summary: 5 Stars
I was apprehensive about buying this dehumidifier because of the number of reviews that cited compressor failure withing the first few months. But I could not find another comparable product, so I bought it anyway. And so far, after a month and a half, I am very pleased with its perfromance. Hook up was trivial and I got it working in less than a minute. In the first 24 hours, I emptied the bucket 3 times - it really took a lot of water out of the air! Then I connected a drain hose and I no longer need to empty the bucket. It has been running almost continually since then and the basement seems very dry. It is a little noisy (I have the fan on high), but I have it in the basement area away from the rec room and the noise is not objectionable.
I'll try to update this review in a year or so regarding the compressor issue; or earlier if it fails before then. But so far, it has been great.
UPDATE 4/13/2010: Aftre 7 months it still works great. It cycled on/off a lot (every minute or two) during the winter that I wondered whether it was still removing water. I checked it out and itw as working fine. It is still fairly noisy when fan is on high; not any more so than when I got it, but now that I live with it, I am keeping the fan on low.
UPDATE 10/3/2010: Still working fine. It still cycles a lot and is noisy, but it gets the moisture out and that's what counts!

This thing really works! I had no idea that our basement was that damp. I really wanted a plain jane, no frills dehumidifier but could not locate one. I decided on this unit and I have to say this is one of the best products I have bought in a long time!
Customer Review: Excellent for my unfinished basement Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this unit in August and am extremely pleased with the job it is doing in my large unfinished basement. I live in a 105 year old house. We had a very rainy summer here in Connecticut and so far have also had quite a bit of rain this autumn. This dehumidifier has done an excellent job of keeping my big, old basement dry. The musty smell is long gone and the cement floors dry out quickly after a rain storm. We keep it in the middle of the basement, and despite some partitions that separate the laundry area, furnace, and storage areas, it is keeping the entire basement dry. As others have said, it was extremely easy to un-box and get it started. This is my first dehumidifier and I am very pleased.
Customer Review: Excellent so far Summary: 5 Stars
We received this dehumidifier last week and it is sure taking out the humidity in our basement. All you hear is the fan running and not the noise of our older unit. The bucket gets full fast, I would suggest putting a hose on it and draining it into a drain.
I would recommend this unit. You really don't hear it running at all.
Customer Review: FRIGIDAIRE 70-PINT DEHUMIDIFIER Summary: 5 Stars
I HAVE A MOISTURE PROBLEM IN MY BASEMENT AND THE MUSTY SMELL THAT COMES WITH THAT PROBLEM. SINCE I HAVE HAD THE DEHUMIDIFIER THE MUSTY SMELL IS GONE AND I'M EMPTYING THE BUCKET 2-3 TIMES A DAY. THIS ITEM WORKS REALLY WELL. IT'S SLEEK AND ATTRACTIVE LOOKING ( AS FAR AS DEHUMIDIFIERS GO) AND AMAZON HAD THE BEST PRICE. IF YOU PURCHASE IT, I'M SURE YOU WILL BE AS PLEASED WITH IT AS I AM.
