Customer Review: Good AC Summary: 4 Stars
This is a pretty good AC for the price. I'm not sure why some people are saying it's a loud unit. It will depend greatly on how the AC is installed and the current condition of the window frame. Mine runs fairly quiet. I installed mine using M-D Building Products 6619 Sponge Rubber Tape, 3/8-by-1/2-Inch-by-10 feet, Closed Cell tape to help prevent window vibration. My windows are also fairly new and well constructed. An older house/window frames may experience more rattling.
I'm interested in seeing how well this AC handles extreme heat. It seems to be doing OK when temps reach the 80's but I'm wondering if it can handle 90+. I'm also only trying to cool down just the bedroom. It would not be adequate for an entire apartment.
Customer Review: Good but not great. Summary: 3 Stars
I Bought this for my living room, and it is better than not having any A/C however it is not as good as the air conditioners I've had in my past. It doesn't get that cold at all, this is definitely for a VERY small room. I would say like a 10 by 10 room, probably the smallest room in your house, next to the bathroom. Don't buy this is you have 90 degree weather and up, you'll be disappointed.
Customer Review: Good buy for it's price and size. Summary: 4 Stars
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because is a little noisy but that was expected. I have a studio with low ceilings that is 26 x 10 is divided in two rooms for a french door.if I keep the door close. the big room stay really cool on the high mode. which is good because is where my computer is. if I open the doors which is during the nigh keep the two rooms cool but not as much as if I have the doors close. Helps I have fan ceilings for example if the bedroom and computer room is at 86f after a little while the temperature in the bedroom will be 80 and in the computer room 76. So it works. eventually cools a little more. I just got it a couple weeks a ago so I haven't check my electricity bill yet. Does the job, good buy.
Customer Review: Good for cooling the computer room Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this A/C unit about 2 weeks ago, after we realized that our central air was useless for the upstairs computer room. Long story short, two computers with dual monitors, located upstairs, means a lot more heat where the thermostat can't sense it. Thus, why waste the central air electricity when we're spending time up there? The room is about 10' x 13' in case that helps.
Just to be upfront and to the point, so far this unit has been great. It only takes about 30 minutes to cool the room down to a comfortable temp when I come home to find the upstairs is sweltering. Also the price was quite good at the time, $150. I am disappointed to see Amazon had ended the Amazon Prime shipping advantage on it though, because that was the biggest reason I bought it online instead of at Lowes or something. Prime shipping made it a much better value for me to buy it without seeing it 'in person' first.
Also! We bought this unit because we have very small windows, only 20" wide between the casing edges. The 'upright' A/C units weren't very cost effective because they were much higher BTU than we needed, and cost about twice as much. This unit is about 18.5" across including the metal parts on the case. It doesn't fit perfectly, but there's only a few millimeters of a gap on the side we didn't attach the accordion thing, so we can live with it. It was noted in other reviews that the Louvres aren't very effective unless it's in the middle of the room; well, our window is in the center so it worked out ok for us. I can't really speak to other setups.
Ultimately I feel it was a good value for the limited need we had. Hopefully it holds up for a long time. I like the included remote for when I'm in the middle of a raid or something. It is not super quiet but I also don't think it's super loud; I've had to endure a lot of crappy A/C units on Army bases and I think this one is a lot quieter than those, at least. Also I don't mind the white noise as it blocks out the neighbors. Hope this review helps!
