Tools and Hardware Reviews of Fuji 3004 Q4 PRO Quiet 4-Stage HVLP Spray System

Customer Review: Top of the line HVLP
Summary: 5 Stars

I have big plans for this unit, mostly in the furniture finishing projects. So far, I have only shot oil based stains, polys and a mixture of the two. The system is outstanding and proved so superior to my high pressure sprayers. You have total control with the spray pattern, the amount of material applied, and the atomization air pressure. The noise is about the same as my indoor canister vac and much quiter than my wet/dry vac.

The description neglected to say that you need two critical accessories. Get the #3 AirCap or you will spray too much oil based material. You must also get the whip hose if you want to apply a smooth pattern. I also purchased the 3 cup mini set and use this most often. The small size cups are quite adequate for most of my spraying needs.

I also have a HVLP conversion gun that uses a high pressure compressor but performs somewhat like an HVLP system. At 1/20 of the price of this system (if you have the compressor), it is very usable competitor for oil based materials. I have not compared the two systems with water based products.

Customer Review: What a pleasure.

This is truly a great gun. Build quality is excellent, adjustment is smooth, plenty of power.

Customer Review: Worth Every Penny
Summary: 5 Stars

It is really great to see when a product is designed exactly to do the job it is intended for. This system is simple, strong and produces exquisite results. Moreover, it is easy and quick to clean, time after time. It is meant to be re-used day after day, and has already proven itself after a month of use.
I have only used oil-based paints (Benjamin Moore), and have thinned them by around 25%. This seems a lot to the uninitiated, but rest assured the results are superb. Spend time with some scrap wood, playing with the adjustments to get the flow and spread as you need it. Any orange peel effect, just thin it some more. Simple. Get the Quiet version - it is absolutely worth it, and the noise level resembles that of a (quiet) vacuum cleaner. My only minor gripes are the fact that the 6ft whip hose does not come standard (I have never used the standard hose - it is long, rigid and heavy) and the standard paint reservoir is alumin(i)um. When using oil based paints (especially bright white) the tarnish from the alumin(i)um ever-so-slightly can affect the paint if not rubbed absolutely clean first. Other than that, I use the mini-cups a lot (again, nice if they were standard) which are great for small jobs. Spend the money and enjoy the quality. I am very impressed and happy with this product.

Customer Review: Yet Another Die Hard Fuji Customer...
Summary: 5 Stars

Several months ago I happened upon this site and began reading all these remarkable reviews about the Q4 Pro. I really wasn't in the market for an expensive sprayer but I've always been frustrated, when working on household projects, when it came to the painting. I began looking into sprayers that would be a quality tool but didn't bankrupt my pocketbook.

By the time I got thru half of these reviews, I was sold. Bought the Q4 Pro, the mini cups, and the whip hose. To be honest, I was felt a little foolish in buying a professional sprayer at a price I really wasn't prepared to spend at the time.

No matter.

Since I've begun using my Q4, I've felt completely vindicated in my decision. My first project was the finishing of the month long restoration of our original double hung windows. I did take me some time getting used to the thinning process, and for a few hours thought maybe this was a mistake. So, remembering what I'd read about owner of Fuji, I called the 800 number and left a message. He called back promptly (missed his call) but he left me a long and detailed message on what I could do to fix my problem. I still struggled with the thinning problem, so I wrote him an email on Friday night and really only expected a response on Monday. Later that evening, I got a return email with more information that fixed the problem! What a guy!

And my old windows now look as good as I've imagined they could look. This gives me so much more confidence when looking at other projects that I've been putting off. I work as an artist, so my standards tend to be pretty high, and this sprayer makes my work look good!

The Fuji Q4 Pro is an outstanding product, backed by an even more outstanding company. It's a perfect sprayer for the professional or a just novice like myself. If you decide to get this, you will not be disappointed.

Customer Review: enjoying the process of perfection
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been a cabinetmaker for 20 plus years now and got to tell you I never look forward to the finishing end of things, for many reasons having to do with spraying from my air compressor, over spray, too much paint on , not enough paint on, not where I want it,etc etc...I believe with a little more knowlege in the waterboure poly I'm spraying I could achieve perfection with this sprayer.. ITS real Quality, finally something not cheaply made. The gun itself is real easy to use and easier to clean.. I've only had this Q4 for about 3 weeks now and am spraying a huge library job of 8ft tall bookcases..I'm just not there with the viscosity of the product yet. I'm using cabot semi gloss waterboure poly.would love to use a oil base product instead but I'm in a basement and the smell would kill me.. it s a real balance of all the settings just right. but fun and easy to play with them, everything is right at your hands.. I read all the reviews and ther all right you definetly need the whip hose and the cup set along with the number 3needle set if your going to spray water based materials.. also glad I got the Q4 and not the mini cause the sound is so much lower and to me almost a soothing hummmm.. on them long projects it really pays off.guess my only griff was the price and assesories that I feel should have came with it.however when ya get a quality tool like this it does not hurt so much to put out for the assesories.I highly support this sprayer to all both novice and professonal.
