Tools and Hardware Reviews of Fuller Tool 890-1072 12-Point Reversible Ratchet Brace with 4-Jaw ChuckCustomer Review: Piece of poo Summary: 1 Stars
Crude, clunky, junky, and the knob would only allow about 2/3 of a turn before it froze up.
Low, low Chinese quality.
In other words, overpriced anywhere over $1.50.
Customer Review: Pretty good. Summary: 4 Stars
Seems to be made well. I'm a little nervous about the plastic parts but so far they have held up. I haven't given it a beating as I have this in a survival kit and don't use it regularly. I hope I made a good choice. The price was nice!
Customer Review: cuck slips Summary: 1 Stars
I have only had this a few months. The chuck(jaws) used to slip a little, now it is impossible to use.
Customer Review: poor design Summary: 2 Stars
The drill has a poorly designed chuck (part that holds the bit). It will not hold a bit tight enough for drilling many types of wood.
Customer Review: very good brace, exactly what I needed Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this with a few home carpentry projects in mind-- I am no carpenter but a mom of lots of little kids. My older boys-- nearly eight and five-- were really eager to help me and I wanted them to start learning about how to use hand tools. Although I'm not one, there are a lot of engineers in the family and a family tradition of being able to fix things. Or at least trying. (There is also no way they are going near power tools anytime soon!)
With my help (they are small) the boys had a good time boring holes in various pieces of wood and helped me to build a plywood dinosaur for their birthday. The brace seems well-made, sturdy enough for us (I envision having this thing a long time) and easy to use. I would buy this item again. I looked and looked and could not find them at Home Depot or Lowe's-- the clerks there shrug and say, "Well, everyone wants a power drill." This brace works pretty fast. For parts of the project when I was working alone without kids, I didn't bother getting out my power drill-- the brace and bit were fine.
