These alarms work really well, are really loud and help me feel secure. I have bought cheaper versions and I would say it is definitely worth it to spend the extra money for the GE product. They are very easy to install with the sticky tape they come with. These will definitely scare someone off, maybe even alert the neighbors, and give you the time and warning you may need to take precautionary measures. They are also good to keep tabs if you have little ones. Unfortunately, the door one didn't work with my door frame as the distance was too far, but I bought the door stopper, which also rocks.Customer Review: Home Alarm System

I am planning to move to an apartment in the city and wanted a way to feel safer. Although this alarm is advertised in homes it works just as well in my apartment. The chime lets me know when guest have entered during a party and at night I know that I will hear the alarm should a door or window be opened. What kind of metal phillips head screw breaks down while you're trying to screw in the back-plate? So, while trying to undo the mess, the male portion of the plastic backplate broke off... Now, the door unit is useless to me.
On the other hand the window units are just fine. I ended up using one of the three window units on my door.

It arrived well packed, it was very easy to install, I try several times to arm and disarm it and it was great. Very (I mean very) loud when it goes off.
The only problem is that after one week, one day in the morning, when i try to disarm it was dead. I try to replace the batteries but nothing. It never worked again
The windows alarms unit work fine so far. Not as loud as the key padded unit but they do what they suppose to do.

It is very easy to install. I just used the sticker enclosed to attach them to wood doors and Vinyl window. The sound is high enough. It does what a $25 alarm suite is supposed to do. I've NO complaints.
