I have several of these in use for many years. I like this model because I can use a plastic tie to secure the key to the lid. This helps ensure that the key gets put back. My relatives have the master lock type where the lid is hinged to the body, so the key must be removable. There have been many times the kids used the key and did not put it back, making the key safe useless.

I've used these keysafes for years and have just ordered another to give as a gift. Whether you lock yourself out frequently or once every decade or so, you're mighty happy you have one of these. You can install it right beside the door if you wish, because it's a heck of a lot harder to break into it as it is to break into the house, so you don't need to worry about tempting burglars.Customer Review: Keysafe

Works well, and no need for batteries. The only negative point is, origianlly I wanted to mount the keysafe horizontally, but when doing this the keys fall to the side of the safe and makes it impossible to close the cover.
