Having pulled this knife out for a camping trip I thought I would say a few words. I purchased this knife while working as a contractor in the home improvement business per the suggestion of a few people doing the same. After a sluggish week spent breaking it in a bit I quickly learned to love this tool. I carried this heavily and used it daily for two years and since then have brought it on every vacations and every camping trip I've been on. The weight is light, the tools are strong. I've really punished this thing and its only gotten better in return. After a Letherman (a fine tool) I never seemed to get into, this was by far the best knife I have purchased. I rarely leave home for more than a weekend without this knife in my bag. I would give the MP400 more than 5 stars if I could.Customer Review: Best all a round tool

I have owned the gerber O55OO for many years it is the one tool I use more offten than any other both at home and work. You will wounder how you ever did with out one, once you start useing it. The tool is very conveiently sized and easy'ly fits in your pocket or purse and is ready for just about any job you have around the house, work or in the great outdoors. The tool is light so it wount wiegh you down and the slip joints function smoothly and need very littel in the way maintenance, just a bit oil now again and this tool will last you many years.Customer Review: Best in class

I have bought a few types of this product (victorinox probably being the fanciest and I also went to stores and tried different models).
The Gerber blows away any plier I have ever used. Everytime I use this, I still tell myself "I cant believe they sell this so cheap." I have given many as a present to guys who would use something like this all the time, and they give me the best thanks you can get: I catch them carrying it with them or using it.
Biggest pluses:
* everything locks
* the blade is superb (sharp, slightly serrated, it can be (mis)used as a minisaw)
* it has scissors (this is a must for me)
* Everything can be opened / closed with one hand easily.
* The metal is durable and resistant to rust.
* It has philips head / regular screw drivers
How could you want anything else???
Once I found this model, I was so afraid Gerber would either up the price or stop selling it that I bought 4 just for myself, and 5 for gifts. It has probably been 5 years since then and my other 3 are still sitting in the cases, waiting for the day I break the first one.

I've had one of these for a few years now. Great tool!
I find I use the scissors and pliers the most. I love the fact that EVERY tool locks securely. No more getting fingers caught as the screwdriver/knife bends back. A lot of multi-tools out there have *semi* secure locking. The Victronix (sp?) that I looked at was more expensive and didn't really LOCK, it had a notch which held pretty good, but if a lot of force was being applied (like for a tough screw in an awkward spot) it would collapse... Gerber has great design on its locking mechanism. The ONLY downside I've seen is the pointless phillips. It's dull to the point that it can't be used for the majority of phillips screws. So, for those I'm forced to dig out my old leatherman, and pray it doesn't collapse on me.
