Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gerber 07563 Pro Scout Needlenose - Multi-PlierCustomer Review: Good tool, However.... Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this tool from Amazon not from any other seller and to my surprise and disappointment upon opening the box from Amazon the box the tool came in looked a little used. I opened the Gerber box it there were greasy fingerprints and smudge marks on the tool itself. It appeared to have been used at some point. The greasy marks wiped off with a cloth and there were no scratches in the actual tool. The tool has worked fine since I have received it. The tool is very good especially the locking mechanism.
Customer Review: Great Multi Tool Summary: 5 Stars
I spent some time looking around on-line at all the various multi tools available, I had narrowed the field down to Gerber tools but which one? The price is what finally made up my mind for me, at [price] it is a great deal. So far the tool has performed perfectly, the action to release the pliers works quite well ( and satisfies my juvenile delinquent self with its switch blade like opening ). The only item I wished that it had is a lanyard hole so I could tie the thing to my wrist. I spend a lot if time sailing so things dropped are things gone by-by.
Customer Review: Had one for years. Love it. Summary: 5 Stars
Gerber makes the sharpest and most durrable blades known to man. My knife has been through some tough situations and it always performs great. I think Gerber makes the most durrable "multi-tools" of all the manufactures. Gerber = Quality.
Customer Review: It's OK Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this tool for about 14 months now, and it's OK. It has come in handy a few times, but that's what a multi-tool is supposed to do. After 14 months of relatively consistent use, here's what I have to say...
KNIFE: Absolutely incredible. This knife is still unbelievably sharp. I love it.
PLIERS: They do their job as pliers should do.
WIRE CUTTER: I cut some copper wire a few months ago, and now the wire cutter is notched. The wire wasn't even that thick. 10-12 gauge max. They should be made of a stronger metal.
FILE: never used it
SAW: never used it
CAN OPENER: It's a little tricky, but it does the job.
BOTTLE OPENER: Opens all drinks
SCREWDRIVERS: They're too short and stubby. You can only use them on flush surfaces. I know the Leathermans have longer screwdriver attachments.
SCISSORS: They tackle small jobs well enough.
It's an average tool. It's better than the junky ones, but it's not worth raving over. After 14 months, all the attachments jiggle a little, and it makes it tough to close the pliers. The knife is the best part, the rest is so-so. If you asked me if I would buy this again, I would say no, and I would buy the Leatherman Wave.
Customer Review: Lovely Summary: 5 Stars
Main reason I got this over its Leatherman counterpart was because of the quick deploy system. I don't like having to use two hands (or get crazy contortionist) to get the Leatherman types open. All I have to do w/ my Gerber is take it out of the little pocket thingy, and do a one-fell-swoop action and viola, needlenose pliers.
The extra tools are nice. All the blades are super sharp. The saw blad however is kinda wack. It's like sandpaper attached to metal. I wouldn't mind having actual teeth to chop something up.
The Amazon-suggested tool bit expansion set didn't work however (Gerber 22-49445 10-Piece Tool Kit) because it's super loose on the screwdriver it's supposed to attach to. Too bad I opened it before reading the damn package for compatibility. I would've returned it.
I have yet to put it through military-grade abuse but for everyday people, it's nice.
