Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gerber 22-01629 LMF II Black Infantry Knife with 4.8-Inch BladeCustomer Review: Amazing knife Summary: 5 Stars
I just ordered this knife (but in the Coyote brown) and I am nothing short of amazed. The balancing of the knife, sharpness, comfort of the sheath and the knife in my hand; all impeccable. I can't wait to go "man vs. wild" with this puppy. Truly amazing knife, Gerber does it again. I recommend it to anyone in the Armed Services (the coyote brown goes suprisingly well against Army ACUs) and the MOLLE compatibility only adds to the diverse wearing options. Wisest 80$ I have spent in too long.
Only complaint was the damn plastic wrapping trying to get it open! =)

Customer Review: Awesome Medium Survival Knife Summary: 4 Stars
The knife overall is just great. It feels great in the palm and ive put it through some good back country back packing tests. Sheath is amazing and versatile and the field sharpener comes in handy and helps you should some ounces off of your carry weight. Very pleased for the price and quality of the knife, can't beat the sale price. Definetly would recommend this knife. Must carry, must have.
Customer Review: Awesome blade... fail handguard Summary: 3 Stars
blade was phenomenal. SUPER sharp out the box. Serated edge worked like a charm though any cord or rope. The black finish looks AMAZING. Great blade. Phenomenal Blade.
BUT......
The hand guard started peeling off on me every time I slid it back into the sheath. I've read some reviews of people saying it took a lot to put it back into the sheath but I didn't think it took that much of an effort. Plus I felt secure knowing the blade wouldn't accidentally just fall out of my pocket. But little did I know that the hand guard would slowly peel back every time I put it in the sheath..
Maybe I got a dud... but if you're going to use another sheath, then i HIGHLY recommend this knife. If not, well then I hope you get a better quality hand guard.
Customer Review: Best Designed Survival Knife Summary: 5 Stars
This model of knife was originally designed to be an ASEK (Aircrew Survival Egress Knife) and came with a cord cutter hook. The Infrantry Knife aspect came about after it was given to US troops in Afghanistan and Iraq as a demo item. It is a rugged knife, and has a window punch on its butt and a full tang blade completely insulated by the grip. This aspect came in handy to a certain sniper team in Iraq who cut a power line to a 250 KW Generator in order to dim the lights illuminating their position among around 100 insurgents. The electric arc put an eighth of an inch gash in the knife's blade, but the operator remained unshocked and was able to survive the incident. I am using it currently in Iraq, and I have found that though it isn't the sexiest of edged weapons, it is by far one of the most unyielding. Built in sharpener in sheath is nice, if you know exactly how to use it, otherwise you will nick the blade up a little. Came originally in desert tan/coyote brown, now out in straight black so I will have to by another one for my darker endeavors.
