Tools and Hardware Reviews of the Gerber 22-41121 Prodigy Survival Knife

Tool Review: prodigy
Summary: 3 Stars

Solid knife for the money. Good size, low-end but decent steel. What I don't like is the serrations. They are on the wrong side. And, you're not going to be cutting rope all day. The serrations are taking too much of space on the edge to qualify this knife as a bushcraft blade. 2nd: The handle is fragile rubber. It will begin to deteriorate under heavy use.
Now to Bear Grylls fanboys: Just because he (man vs wild) used this knife does not mean that it qualifies as a dependable survival knife that you should trust your life on. He also used a folder, that doesn't mean that you should use a folder. Don't believe everything you see on tv. For the price here on Amazon, it is a good deal and I like the sheath but that's a separate identity; I would rather have a good knife and poor sheath than the other way around. If Gerber decide to make the Prodigy without the silly serrations, this knife will be much more useful. I seriously doubt that Gerber listen to anyting their customers have to say.
