Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gerber 22-48484 Mini Paraframe Knife, Serrated Edge

Customer Review: Cute knife
Summary: 4 Stars

I have read many reviews of knives like this one, and reviews of this one itself. After that I bought several of these Mini Paraframes. Keep in mind, there are many models of this same knife. Some with straight edges, some with serrated, I need/use serrated.

I should also mention, I have very few example to compare with, I simply realized I really needed a small pocket style knife in several places in my life. That all being said:

Pros

- This knife is good looking, (I gave a few of mine away as gifts to those in need).
- Light
- Functional (clip, serrated edge, sharp).

Cons

- Open it with respect.
- Close it with more respect (it is sharp, and requires one to use both hands to move the blocking clip)
- It rusts (mind you , I live in Hawaii, everything rusts, but, I expected this to be a little more hardy. I simply have to hit it with a little steel wool once a year).

I'm sure there is a much better knife out there, that opens/closes easily, etc. Every once in a while I ask someone that clearly "live with their pocket knife" what they like about their choices , and I never see that it is something I personally need or want, so I'm sticking with this design until something is proven to me. I also prefer the Leatherman Wave as a separate tool. I have about over 10 (again, also as gifts for others).

Customer Review: Dangerously unreliable lock
Summary: 1 Stars

I was given this knife as a Christmas present in 2010. Now, less than a month later, and after very little use, the blade lock almost never works. To lock the knife I must forcibly open the blade with both hands. Even then there is not much lock holding the blade open, so I can't trust it, and neither should you. The problem is design: instead of the lock being a separate, springy, hardened piece of the liner, it is a much thicker (and less springy) part of the frame itself.
I've owned the same small Gerber folder for over 30 years, so this failure surprised me.

Customer Review: Don't buy junk
Summary: 1 Stars

Wait until it falls apart on you & you send it in for warranty, the last laugh will be on you.

Customer Review: Good Buy
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a good value purchase. Sturdy and well designed.
Check the screws when it arrives as they were not all tight on mine.

Customer Review: Good Knife
Summary: 4 Stars

Strong knife. Very small knife. Very light.

I like it, simple enough to carry daily in your pocket without thinking you're carrying a weapon. Its so light you won't even notice its there.

Blade has stayed sharp through everything I've put it to. I like the paraframe lock because I know it won't open if I'm putting a lot of pressure on the blade at any angle.

Only reason I gave this a 4 star, is because there is no thumb stud to open one handed...

Besides that, its a good cheap buy. Good gift !!
