This flashlight seems to be constructed of quality material and has a nice weight to it, however it lacks power. I guess I cant complain about the power because the flashlight is suppose to be a task light. I still like the flashlight, but I don't think that its worth the price. Coming from gerber this flashlight is not what I expected.
This item was for personal use, but the if you're looking for the brightest light at the end of the tunnel.
Please turn around and look for another source of light.
This isn't going to cut it.
The only reason I won't be returning the item is because I'm not fortunate enough to have the time to replace or return the item at the moment.
I would expect a better product from gerber.
Looks like I'll be sticking with maglite.

Customer Review: OK Flashlight For My Car - Very Short Range

I purchased this product to keep in my car for emergencies (so I can take a look under the hood or into the tires and see what's going on). After looking at all the small LED flashlights that would take AA batteries (which are more easily available in unexpected situations), I settled on this Gerber light because it was waterproof and had good battery life.
***Why I Might Not Have Bought It:***
This light has no lens or reflector, so at a distance of more than 2 feet the light get's pretty seriously defused and washed out. Since its a "tasklight" that is sort of OK, but I found the one LED to be MUCH more "short range" than I expected. If you go within 6-12 inches of where you are trying to illuminate, it quite bright. The light is actually OK at longer distances if you are in complete darkness, but since car repair often takes place with ambient light, it makes the intensity of this light even less useful in relation to how your eye is adjusted.
***Why I Didn't Return It:***
I contemplated returning the light and trading in for the Inova of similar size and specs, which supposedly has a much brighter, focused beam. Ultimately I didn't because of the very sturdy build and the reviews that state one AA battery has lasted for years. I want the flashlight I'll use in emergencies to reliably have battery life when I need it.
What I would Change:
A twist lens to focus or spread the light would make this go from an OK, usable product to a 5-star product I would heartily recommend.

First off, it's made by Gerber... no, not the baby food company - the knife/outdoor gear company, and they certainly put out good quality in just about all their products. The flashlight is of an incredibly solid design - if you really wanted to throw it against a wall (for some odd reason) I would give it a 90% chance of sustaining no operational damage. I've dropped it, tossed it, and dropped it again, but it just keeps working. Water proof seal makes it usable underwater - I have tested it. It is brighter than a normal single LED light by far. Clip attaches well to a hat, pocket, belt, or shirt sleeve. Lanyard hole in butt cap is also convenient - tie a leather lanyard to it long enough to fit around your neck or wrist and you'll never drop it as much as I do. All in all, it's a great multi-purpose light that'll suit just about anything. At least try it!
