When I bought this, I didn't need a flashlight; I needed something to help me track downed game. I used it last night; it worked fine when there was large splatter, but when it came to drops, it failed miserably. Shame on Gerber for overstating this product's utility. If I knew how this product actually worked and were thinking about buying one, I wouldn't.

This item seems to be OK. The main problem we experienced was poor tracking ability if the blood had a chance to dry. This hunting season was fairly warm and the blood would dry really fast, so it didnt show up with the light as well as it would have been if the blood would have been wet. Hopefully next years hunting season will be colder so the blood will stay 'wet' for better tracking ability.Customer Review: carnivore blood tracking light

I bought this light for my husband to take hunting so he wouldn't lose any more deer at dusk. Since it isnt hunting season right now he hasn't gotten to use it yet. He has though played around with it and he says that he thinks it will work great.Customer Review: gerber blood tracking light

i tryed this out on ketchup in the yard in the dark and it seems to bring out the red color as far as blood inthe woods id guess that it will work the same. hopefully i see all my deer drop but ill have it if i need it.
even if it works a little its better than losing a deer to a lost blood trail
