My dishwashers ~5 years old and I've never cleaned it. I had no idea I had too until my mother came for a visit and made a comment. To amazon I went!
This product contains a single use cleaner. The package contains a fine powder smelling of citric acid (I'd be surprised if there really is much else in it). Simply put the powder into an EMPTY washer and run it. The dishwasher comes out looking like new!

I have really hard water so over time my dishwasher will develop a filmy sort of residue on it, which also makes my glasses come out filmy. I have a brand new, top of the line (Kitchen Aid) dishwasher, so this was so frustrating. A Kitchen Aid service man came out to fix our ice maker and he told us about this product. Worked like magic! Although the first time, I used two packs, one right after the other because the build up was so bad. I love this product!Customer Review: Does the job

I was having terrible problems with my dishwasher as I live where the water is very hard. I was having to rewash all the dishes and thought that the dishwasher itself was the problem. I finally found this product and it did the job. My dishwasher is clean. Once I saw how well it worked, I ran all my spotty and foggy dishes, glasses, plastic and flatware with Glisten. It cleaned them right up. I have been using this for several months and it still continues to give me a good, clean wash. I put it in my dishwasher once a month. I also switched to a different dishwasher detergent. I now use Finish Powerballs for each wash. The combination of both has stopped the problem. Glisten is the best cleaner I've ever used. My dishwasher is cleaner than it has been in years. It appears that the product keeps the dishwasher clean even a month after using it.
I will buy again and highly recommend it.
