This is an incandesecent rope light - NOT LED. Although the description doesn't claim it is an LED rope light - this was one of the top returns when I searched for LED ROPE LIGHT. That means the light is amber colored and it will get warmer and take more power than an equivilent LED rope light.Customer Review: Nice set of lights

We ordered these for our gazebo and they are really nice! They don't give off enough light to illuminate your entire neighborhood, but rather just enough to light your area. They were also easy to install. The mounting clips that this set came with are different than that of conventional rope lights and can be a bit more difficult to install if you are using a drill. Otherwise these were a breeze to hang. They came coiled up, but unraveled and straightened with little effort. I will definitely buy this brand next time we need a set.
01/09/2010 UPDATE: Our original set is still working very well and showing no fading or wear... these rope lights have exceeded my expectations. I've just received my seecond set of these for outdoor decorating because we are so satisfied.

The only mistake I made was purchasing it from Amazon instead of directly from the seller.

My rope lights only last a year...The product description says....."The lights themselves are extremely long-lasting--they're rated at 35,000 hours". My lights are on a timer for 8 hours a day for 365 days or + - 3,000 hours of use, these didn't even come close. I am going to try to get a free replacement but my guess is I'll get turned down or it will cost more to ship the lights back then what they originally cost....
