The good:
Small, solid, holds gun in place. It can hold a H&K USP Tactical .45 or a Beretta 92FS, no problem, along with 2-3 mags. Even though there are four keys, they can be coded for simultaneous entry, and you can have up to six entries (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2-1, 4-1). So it's far better than say the 3-digit tumbler locks that you find on suitcases or briefcases, which take about 20 minutes for a 15-year-old to sort through.
The bad: the keys are indeed soft. Even after playing with it for half an hour, if you follow the design and try a four-digit opening sequence with four fingers, you'll misfire. The solution is easy: treat it as a keypad and use your index finger. Problem solved.
Why are they soft? Probably for absolute-quiet operation, though the CLANK as the safe opens probably defeats that objective. It wouldn't be hard to have a calculator-style tactile feedback.
There is a 1 cm notch on the right side which seems to serve no purpose other than to provide a pry-it-apart capability in case the use forgets the code/batteries deplete AND loses the key.
The manual reads like a Chinese or Hillbilly translation.
I have not taken it apart, but wouldn't be surprised if there are other avenues of entry.
Conclusion:
Probably OK to meet good-citizen requirements for gun ownership: it'll keep small children out, and provides a backup should older children disregard safety/ownership instructions from their parents. It's not as good as a proper gun safe mounted into a foundation, but then again, it costs a 20th as much.
Not OK for storage of valuables or to keep them from thieves.
So if you live in a trailer park with a bunch of meth heads and want to use this to keep your stash or your gat safe, think again. For the rest of us, it's fine, probably overpriced by $30 for my perception of its value. Should sell in the $50 range.
