I've only used this meter a few times now as I just received it today so don't look for any reliability data. If this meter stops working prematurely, I'll revisit this review. According to the specifications, this meter has about a 2% accuracy which is more than good enough for a general purpose TDS meter. I use it to measure water quality from the tap and in my hydroponic tank. With this meter, I just discovered today that I needed to change the water in my tank as my plants weren't looking really healthy. As far as I'm concerned, this meter has already paid for itself. Lastly, it's light in weight and small enough that the owner can probably attach it to a shirt pocket.

TDS Meter - Tester To Test For Total Disolved Solids In Water - Reverse Osmosis Membrane Tester The Only Way To Know If Your Reverse Osmosis RO Membrane Is Performing Correctly - Tests for TDS - Total Dissolved Solids. A Must For All RO System Owners. Compare Incoming Feed Water To Treated Water - Replace Membrane If Less Than 80% of TDS Is Being Removed - Total dissolved solids (TDS) are the total weight of all solids (minerals, salts or metals) that are dissolved in a given volume of water expressed in milligrams per liter (mg/L), or in parts per million (PPM). The lower the TDS level in the water, the more efficiently your body's cells actually get hydrated by the water that you drink. The higher the TDS levels in the water, the greater the probability of harmful contaminants that can pose health risks or hinder the absorption of water molecules on the cellular level. 17 PPM of TDS = 1 grain of hardness.
