I bought two of these reasonably priced safes to have in the bedroom and to hide one in the kitchen. My wife and I both carry and I like making it very convenient to lock up the guns because we have small children. As some reviews noted it can be broken into very easily so if you are buying for true security save your money. It serves well as a child safety safe and can be quickly opened. I have a larger safe for security and fire protection so this fills a different nitch. I did notice the battery pack falls loose over time and the lack of a key overide is why I rated it 4 instead of 5.Customer Review: Good for keeping weapons away from kids

This is a decent product. It is a little overpriced in my opinion, but the best affordable option available that I am aware of. It is useful for keeping a handgun safe from young children, and makes it difficult for older children to gain access. However, a really determined older child could break into the box by prying it open. If your child is the type to do something like this, don't buy this box. If you want to use the box to store valuables, it might slow down an intruder, but it would probably be smarter to just hide them.
Pros:
-The access code feature is well implemented. You can program any code you like.
-Enough space for a handgun, some ammo, and a few other things.
-Can be mounted to a wall fairly easily. This could potentially make it more difficult for a child to pry it open.
-Has the option of connecting a 9V battery to power the locking mechanism in the event that the batteries die.
Cons:
-The locking mechanism is not very durable. Could be pried open easily.
-The battery compartment is cheap. I can envision some scenarios where the batteries might fall out.

This is a good product, and a good value. I use it to store a pistol. The kids cannot get the pistol without the code, and the code is in my head. I still keep the box hidden and out of reach (my children are young). When my children get older, I plan to explore buying a bigger safe. Meanwhile, this is perfect. I can get to the gun fast, but nobody else can.Customer Review: Good to go

All the concerns I had about this unit where put at eas when I recieved it in the mail. The non key over ride I was worried about is addresed with an external pos / neg battery attachment point if the bettery goes dead. The unit is stout and would be difficult to enter. The only problem I had with the unit was the lack of holes drilled in the center of the back for mounting to a single wall stud. The unit has four holes one in each corner so I drilled three consecutive holes in the a line from top to bottom and put three larg screws into the wall stud. Also I would get some self adhesive fuzzy side velcro to cover the screws to resist marring your hand gun. I liked this unit so much I have purchased two more to place around my home.Customer Review: Goofy shape

Works as intended. One of the reviews complained about it being easy to break, etc. OK! I can kick your door down in probably 2-3 kicks! It will stop kids! In addition to the combination (which can be a combination of keys are once) you have to push the door down to release it within 5 seconds. When your kids get big enough to cram screwdrivers in and open it, you've got bigger problems on you hands! If you conceal it well, you've got a good chance that it will be secured. For the price, it's a winner! Oh! The shape is goofy, but the picture shows that.
