This thermostat is everything it is advertised to be. I had purchased a LUX EV-4 and was very unhappy with the clicking noise it made when turning on and off. The Honeywell is very quiet. As there is no battery backup, other reviews expressed concern about losing programming after a power loss. We lost power the day after I installed the thermostat; I was out of town; came home to find all settings intact. This unit has 7 day programming; all others offered only 5 &2.

Easy to install! I replaced the old one with the new one in about 20 min including up and down the stairs to switch the power off. Programming was a snap after catching on. This took longer than the install for me. One thing to note is you can program the whole week at one time then go back and change the individual days that you want the schedule different. This saves a lot of time and button pushing. I like the fact that all the buttons are hidden except for the light button. It has been working great. It will be nice not having to think if you turned it down during the day all winter.Customer Review: Great thermostat, easy to install and program

I ordered this thermostat on 10/21/10 and I received it in 4 days(pretty fast shipping) I was a little worried about the installation as i was replacing my Cadet brand dial thermostat which only had 2 wires. However with the instructions that came with the Honeywell TL8230A1003 installation was pretty simple even for someone with very little or no experience, It took me about 20 minutes total. It comes preprogrammed, but it is very easy if you want to change the programming. The backlighting is a very bright green and stays on for about 30 seconds. I haven't seen a difference in my energy bill yet as I have only had this unit for a few days now, I will update when I get my next bill. Overall I am very pleased with the quality of this thermostat and I like that it is energy star and has a 5yr warranty.Customer Review: Great to find this thermostat

I was in a pickle. I bought a home with a weird electrical heating system and very old thermostats. Plus the wiring is 220 and I could find zero programmable thermostats at hardware stores.
I bought two and had them installed. Programming is a breeze if you can read and follow simple instructions. I have four periods I can adjust and that suits my needs. I can change the preprogrammed settings very easily. I just started needing to learn this and I am not usually good at this but to me the programing was simple.
I like it and if I ever need to use one in the two remaining rooms with old manual thermostats I would buy these again.
