Tools and Hardware Reviews of Haan FS20 Plus Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing Tray

Customer Review: Adequate
Summary: 4 Stars

I've used it twice. It does emit a good amount of steam and seems to clean my wood laminate and vinyl floors but I was surprised how little dirt collected on the pad. I'm not a clean freak and do have a cat so I expected the pad to be much dirtier than it was after I finished. Maybe my floors weren't as dirty as I thought? They do look cleaner and shinier after I finish so I guess the sanitizer is doing it's job. I also tried it with the carpet attachment on two small bathroom throw rugs and they looked cleaner afterwards. The appliance is relatively easy to use and the price is reasonable. There is some, but not a excess, of water left on the floor to evaporate afterwards. The power cord could be longer. Overall, this unit seems do an adequate job for the money and is a good value for typical home floors.

Customer Review: Almost perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had my Haan for about two weeks now and I really enjoy it. It's pretty quiet, has a nice long cord and the pads do a great job of picking up 90% of the water left behind (the other 10% usually evaporates in about a minute. FYI - I have pre-finished hardwood). The Velcro on the pads makes them very easy to attach, and their texture ( a mix of rough and soft cloth) is the perfect mix for gliding effortlessly over the floor while leaving the cleaned areas pristine.

I've found it particularly useful in cleaning my kitchen floors daily, which track plenty of oil/dirt/food from all the foot traffic. Same goes for under my kids high chair.

SO WHY DID'NT I GIVE IT 5 STARS?:

1. It takes about 3 minutes to heat up
-It feels like forever, especially compared to my old h2o mop which took only 60 seconds (then again, the h2o mop stunk).

2. It doesn't always pickup large stuck-on food
-I have kids, so parents know exactly what I'm talking about. Kid drops food, food gets stepped on, food becomes part of the floor. This mop does about a "B-" job of picking that kind of stuff up. Then again, I bought it to clean my floor's and (aside from this fact) it does a good job of doing it.

My advice is to get this mop, but buy extra cleaning pads. I have about 7, so that I always have a fresh one whenever I want to clean my floors. Once I use them, I just put them in with my wash and let them air dry. This is from experience. If you reuse the same pad over and over again (without washing it) it will make you house smell like a moldy towel.

Customer Review: Amazing Mop
Summary: 5 Stars

This thing definitely works! The steam comes out hot and it does a great job cleaning the floor and sanitizing. You do have to take your time you can't zip across the floor with it, if you mop slowly this thing gets up everything thats not a giant stuck on blob. We had a mixture of boby food containing sweet potatoes bananas and spinach from feeding our daughter. well it had been there for about 2 weeks i'm guessing, (we didn't find it till we moved her high chair) well about 4 slow passes over this cement food blob and it was gone. I also got the short handle attachment which works great on....well everything lol. The only downfall is the cord's a little short...long enough to across a room with out furniture getting in the way. I also would highly reccomend getting the extra pads if you plan on doing just ore than your kitchen floor. We have a fairly large size eat in kitchen and hard wood floors in our living room and hardwood stairs. We go through 3 pads just cleaning them so we needed the extra two, I'm just sad I didn't order the 5 pack because now every time I mop I have to make sure I have them all clean especially if i plan on doing counters and cabinets I need all 4. It also does a great job sanitize the carpet and mattress with the little plate. But unfortunately it doesn't actually clean them but if you put down some carpet cleaner then hold it over the area long enough to get it then throw down a towel to soak it up it steam it like a steam cleaner so it's great for spots but not cleaning the whole carpet. Anyway it works amazing as mop and sanitizer, just make sure get the extra pads, it's much better and more stable than most mops and doesn't take 10 seconds to sanitize one spot like most of them do and the steam come out hot...so don't mop barefoot...it hurts lol

Customer Review: An Infomercial Item That Actually Works!
Summary: 5 Stars

Informercials are pretty much a reason for me NOT to purchase an item... usually extremely overstated and insulting. If manufacturers would learn to produce a good product at a fair price and advertise is accordingly... they'd never want for a customer. Well... this is such a product! I have a 6x12 galley kitchen... and I've grown very tired of washing the floor by hand (a mop just pushes dirt around)!

I decided to try the HAAN after watch their infomercial! I further checked Amazon for details and reviews. Actually I've been an Amazon customer since they started as the 'largest bookstore'! I rarely by any item of any significance without first checking Amazon... and most often I buy it from Amazon to save time, effort and money.

The HAAN arrived... first good sign... the packaging... a high end box, with a handle! Amazon boxed it within one of their own boxes too. Each of the several pieces are individually wrapped and situated in the box to prevent damage - great job HAAN! Very easy to assemble the handle extension and handle itself. This item is very well made, not flimsy at all. Shipped with the additional sanitizing tray and two cleaning pads. A water measuring cup is also enclosed.

I vacuumed the kitchen (and bathroom) floors first and then started up the HAAN (filled the tank and turned it on... takes three minutes to heat up). And even though I didn't poor ketchup, sand, wine... etc. all over the floors (infomercial)... the HAAN cleaned the floors incredible well! To a definite shine! In fact when I walked across the kitchen floor afterward... my tennis shoes were "chirping"... since the floor was so squeaky clean! The pad picked up and showed the dirt/grim that remained on the floor after vacuuming. Microfiber clothes have become very popular lately... they are great for cleaning. It took about ten minutes start to finish. I simply moved the cleaner back and forth a couple of times in each swath of floor at a slow to moderate pace.

I am very pleased with this product and I do not hesitate to recommend it... especially for the type of floor cleaning that I require (no kids, no pets and most often shoes off at the front door!). I believe that as long as you have general floor cleaning needs... this item will meet or exceed them and because it is so well made... last for a number of years. It will pay for itself in time and effort, alone.

$100 or so buys a lot of floor cleaning detergents... especially for a galley kitchen and full bath floor... However the easy of use and NO MORE bended-knee cleaning is definitely worth the price. Not to mention that steam cleaning obviously sanitizes as well.

Go for it!

Customer Review: An ok cleaner
Summary: 3 Stars

I used this steam cleaner today for the first time on my tile floors. First, the steam appeared to loosen some of the grime, but did not lift it all off the floor. You have to let the floor dry, and then go over it again--or use the extra clean pad that comes with the unit. The pads do not provide any type of scowering action to remove stuck on gum, for example, or other stuck on debris; you have to carry some sort of scraper with you. This unit is easy to push and pull. However, you have to go slow in order to let the steam heat break down the dirt in areas. The cord definitely could be longer. I found myself constantly pluging and unpluging the cord. Also, the water reservoir only hold a cup of water that runs out quite fast. For a 2000 SqFt house I refilled 5 times. Note that each time you refill you have to wait a few minutes for the water to boil and start to steam.

In the end, this product is ok. Not fantasticly better than a regular mop. The only difference is you don't have to lug a bucket around and dip the mop in dirty water over and over again. However, note that the steam pad on this unit gets dirty fast, and you're also just reusing a dirty pad over and over again. This item works good if you have numerous pads on hand.
