Tools and Hardware Reviews of Haan FS20 Plus Steam Cleaning Floor Sanitizer with Deluxe Sanitizing TrayCustomer Review: Good product. Cleans well with little effort. Summary: 4 Stars
I read various other reviews before deciding on the Haan steam mop... Overall it feels sturdy and well built with 17 position adjustable metal handle that can be adjusted with just a push of of the button. great as my 1 and 3 year olds love to "help" clean the house after messing it up!
The selling points for this model over the others was the row of 15 multiple steam jets as opposed to a single port like the shark. The ultra microfiber pads which are thick and sturdy, seem to absorb moisture and pick up dirt very well, easy to push on multiple surfaces, easy on and off with velcro style attachments, no problems with washing them so far... I did buy a couple extra packs of pads as i use it daily with my kids and a wood laminate floor throughout a majority of the house. the pads have never left any wet "puddles" of standing water even after being left in one place for an extended period of time... excessive wetness was a noted problem with several other steamers. I feel a lot of consideration should be given to the quality and type of material used to make the cleaning pad as this it was is really doing all the work and takes the most abuse. Durability is a key issue for me...
I am able to fill mine with about 13oz of water. can do about 800sq ft depending on how dirty the kids have made the floor for me to clean. usually using just one cleaning pad.
I tested it as shown in the image for water temp. as water boils at lower temp at altitude, I would expect a high reading at sea level but I got about 194 F temp at multiple locations under the mop with or without the pad on... Haan claims 212+ F steam... However it still seems to clean very well at its current temp...
As for weight with a full tank of water using a digital luggage scale I get 5.1 lbs.
The Haan also has one of the lowest engery usages of any steamer at 800 Watts. it takes about 1 1/2-2 minutes to start steaming and steams constantly while on. No trigger to pump or hold...
I have not used the sanitizer tray for the carpets yet but will update if and when I do use it.
Negatives...
Really the only negatives I see with this are:
1. The power cord is to short.. however there is plenty of space where the cord stores on the steamer to add an extension cord and leave it permanently connected..
2. not that great for getting at the edges as the steam jets run in a strip across the center of the machine so the front and rear of the machine and pad don't get direct steam... Probably why it seems to hold dirt and water well. only the middle third of the pad from side to side is seeing direct steam and the other areas are scrubbing and absorbing. I will add a picture to illustrate..
3. Like just about every other steamer I would like it to hold more water... a gallon at a time would be nice...
Customer Review: Got the job done Summary: 3 Stars
I received my Haan FS20 floor cleaner about a week ago. I used it for the first time a few days ago. I had never used or owned a floor steamer in the past. It heated up quickly and was ready to go. As I started using it I didn't realize it would be quite so hard to push across the floor. It is much heavier and harder to push than a regular mop. It did do a good job cleaning my linoleum floor, but for areas of high traffic with lots of dirt I had to let it sit in place for about 15 seconds. Also, keep in mind if you have some really stubborn stains you will have to pre-treat them or use some kind of stain remover. The other thing that was rather limiting was the length of the cord. It was definitely too short. I had to keep moving it in order to reach all the areas in my kitchen. A longer cord would be very helpful. All in all I was pleased with my purchase. It's not a miracle mop and does have some limitations, but knowing what I know now I would buy it again.
Customer Review: Great Buy Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love my new Haan Steam Cleaner. It is so easy to use and cleans my wood floors beautifully. The Cleaner took 1 cup of water to start the steam system and I had all the wood floors cleaned using only that 1 cup of water. This was my enter way, hallway, kitchen and dining area. Also did the laundry room.
The Cleaner only emits steam; no water drops anywhere. Due to this, the floors are completely dry within minutes. When we walked on them, they actually squeaked they were so clean.
I would highly recommend this Steam Cleaner to anyone with hardwood floors and linoleum floors. I purchased this item thru Amazon.com with no postage fees. Great buy at their cost.
Customer Review: Great Floor Cleaner Summary: 4 Stars
It does clean the floor quite well in record time. I bought this one because of the carpet attachment. I found that it did not clean the carpets that well and left them too wet. For floors, it is great.
Customer Review: Great Job! Summary: 5 Stars
I did extensive research on the steam floor cleaners. I had seen the Haan info-mercial a long time ago and also saw the Shark one as well. My research was well worth it. The Haan has definately proven itself. I have hardwood floors on the entire first level of my home and they came out looking great. My ceramic and travertine in my upstairs bathrooms looks great also. I even tried the carpet attachment on the landing and in one of the bedrooms and I can really tell a difference. You do not need to fill too often and the area of steam is in way excess of the other steam cleaners on the market. It is light and easy to use. I also did my homework on price and Amazon even beat out QVC.
