Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hampton Direct Twin Draft Guard Window/Door Insulating Device with Over-the-Door Hook, Brown, 2-Pack

Customer Review: I'm sure this saved me much more money than I spent!
Summary: 5 Stars

This was the best weather-proofing purchase I made last fall. I live in an apartment building with a door just inside the main building door which had a significant draft. I put these in and instantly noticed that the room stayed much warmer.

I bought these in the fall of '09 and they made it through the winter just fine. You do have to give them a little kick to push them back under the door before your shut it, because they will slide out, but I'm sure the could be fixed with some double-sided tape or something. I really don't mind it, though, it's part of my "door closing routine" now.

I actually plan to leave these in during the summer. I'm sure they'll keep just as much hot air out/cool air in as they did the opposite in winter.

About the notes about making them yourself...yes, you could, but for less than 20 bucks, is it really worth the trip to get the materials, time and effort? No way, they're plenty sturdy right out of the box, and it takes 2 min to put them in.

I also really like the free over-the-door hook that came with.

Customer Review: It Stinks
Summary: 1 Stars

This "draft guard" is way overpriced. This product should sell for less than one dollar. It is poorly made and works poorly. It should never be used on an outside door. A towel or blanket will work better as a draft guard. No one should buy this product.

Customer Review: It worked for me
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this with the assumption that it was another TV gimmick. Surprisingly it worked for me. I have a 100+ year old home and I have drafts everywhere. It worked pretty well on windows and some interior doors. I'm not sure if it works for every application. Probably hit or miss. My doors are pretty think compared to modern doors. They haven't come off either after a month of opening and closing. Not sure if it will work as well with modern doors. Also I'm on hardwood floors, no carpet

Customer Review: Just not worth it
Summary: 1 Stars

After just three days of use it has more or less become useless. The foam tubes are not sitting in the fabric right and it constantly gets tangled up when the door is used. Take my word for it and keep searching, I know I will.

Customer Review: Not what I expected
Summary: 1 Stars

First of all, this item will not work on any kind of door that has a raised threshhold. This eliminates most entry doorways. It will not work on any door that swings over carpet, this eliminates many interior doorways. The round foam pieces are not as thick as they appear in the advertising or the pictures, thus they will smash down and slip under many doors unless the door has a very low clearance. The fabric material is very thin and if you could get one of these to work on a door that opens frequently, the fabric would soon wear out.

This one is in the pile of stuff I have set aside for the next yard sale.
