I brought five of these for employess in the warehouse. All units became defective within one month. The malfunction was the same: the spring that retracts the chain into the unit broke after repeated use. In addition the unit that stored the chain was very poorly constructed. Another sore point was the chain, itself, being too short. If the lock was above waist level, you either had to stand on tip toe to get the key to reach or had to remove the unit from your waste band and have it in your hand when you needed to use your key.
I had purchased these on two separate occasions. The second purchase was made before the first two units broke otherwise I would not have made that second purchase.
